I do the same with artists accounts. If an account is less than 6 months old I wont buy from them, if they are less than a year old I am very cautious of buying from them. There are also a few other things that I watch out for as well, like deleting the original adopt and reposting it rather than posting a reminder, because doing that prevents people from seeing how long an adopt has gone unsold for, which can be an indicator of issues.

As for empty buyer accounts, I've seen people buying dozens of adopts, yet nothing goes on their account, or any other account that I've seen. Always makes me wonder what they are doing with the bought art, whether they are reselling it somewhere else... I think I've become jaded by society, I am always being suspicious of others...

I something delete/repost adoptables but I always indicate that it's a repost and I do it because I drop prices or if I re-worked the design ^^'
But I understand that matter that it's odd seeing an artist re-post the same adoptable over and over again ^^'

I know some people that do have blank/empty account but that I trust because I'm able to find proof they are genuine buyers. I know many that just don't like to repost their adopts by the only fear of having their character stolen and so they end up on toyhouse.

I guess I'll just keep being on my guard since trusting people it now hard T.T

Yeah, I get deleting and reposting if you change the price on the image or something, though you can change the description for it without deleting the post. But these ones just delete and repost the exact same thing every day rather than post a reminder.

Sadly it's hard to trust these days because so many people are trying to run scams...

I usaly wait more then a month before re-posting something. I don't get people doing it after a few days...

But yeah; I'm losing trust right now and it's really depressing. I know that some of theses person are surely real customer but... I lost money last week when I'm right now having issue to have what I need to pay rent so It really putting on my mood down.

I could easily design a trade type payment system where both seller and buyer have to confirm the sale is final and once they do then they cant charge back. Basically buyer sends payment but it goes into a hold, seller submits the artwork but it gets an automatic watermark put over it. Once both buyer and seller click the Accept button to confirm the deal, then the payment gets transferred to the seller and the buyer gets the artwork without the watermark plastered over it. There would be a warning when clicking the Accept button, stating that once you click it then you are agreeing to the payment. The ONLY time a chargeback should be granted in that case, is if the person can prove that their card was stolen. With a system like that there would be no way for someone to take the art and then demand a refund. Or even better, add in a confirmation delay, so there is a notification of the payment that goes out to the card owner's account to warn them of a payment so they can reject it.

Ultimately it is up to the card owner to protect their own account, if your kids are taking your card to use to buy stuff they shouldn't, then you are screwing up. If your card is stolen, then you should be reporting it as such. ("you" meaning a person in general, not you specifically)

There are some sketchy people out there to be sure

It is something I've run into as well. As both artist and buyer. I have a stagnant DA (Haven't posted in eons because most of what I do is on Discord now), an empty FA, and my TH is locked to logged in only so it too looks empty other than my sales folder. I have had a few people refuse me because of this, though luckily I have built a repertoire with a few artists on DA I can always go to.
As the seller/artist though I've tried to sell comms and adopts for a while now and nothing. I even put out a pay what you want starting at 1 USD and still nothing. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe it's just me XD
So yeah it sucks on both ends. There's no right way or wrong way. Do what you can to protect yourself and hope for the best
