what did they get?

yeah, it sucks when it happens but it is part of life. horses are not cheap by any means, and anything goes wrong it can really take a toll on your stress, own health and mostly your bank. I have had horses all my life, and have seen some terrible things that can happen to them. Even now my last horse that i have, who i bought about 7 years ago now i think, found out that she is basically a diabetic. and it was getting close to the point of her feet getting bad enough, the frog being eaten and exposed more then it should have, almost had to put her down. medicine alone was about $150 a month on the low end until i got her weight under control and she is doing better.

Just do what you can to be there for them. and I hope they heal quickly

Her front legs hurt. This is a difficult stage. I will probably have to spend an additional $200 to buy her medicine for a month.

I'm so sorry, when I owned horses many years ago that was one of the scariest things to think about for me; I don't own animals right now personally, but we have gone through some health scares with some of the horses at the boarding farm that I take care of, and I totally understand how scary and stressful it can be. We had a Shetland pony who hurt her back leg and wouldn't put weight on it for weeks, she was quarantined in a barn and I stayed out there with her and she would take a nap in my lap and I would help her stand back up. Luckily she fully recovered eventually! There's another horse out there now who is lame on one of her front legs, and I'm really worried about her now, but all we can do is look after them and keep them comfortable, it's never easy and it's often not cheap to fix everything but in the end everything usually works out <3

I have a horse too, so I understand the feeling. We can do everything right and yet any day they could go down with a pasture injury, colic, etc. When Rio had cancer, I had to think through all the possible outcomes. We got lucky because it was all in soft tissue and could be removed with clean margins. The whole ordeal really brought us closer and I do my very best for him all the time. It's not over until it's over, but always cherish every moment.

This is a very scary disease. I think it is much worse than a leg injury. I wish your horse to overcome it. Thank you for sharing your situation.
