Let me tell you about Tyran!
Tyran is my personal Fursona, He represents my interests, and his choice of career embodies the sort of things I enjoy roleplaying as, aspire to do myself, or otherwise enjoy creative media of.
Tyran is based on the Capsuleer race from the science fiction MMO Eve online.
Now what that means is? He is immortal, he is also ever changing, and he is also, very very experienced in lots of the kinds of things that, if done wrong, or done more poorly than those around you, can make you very very dead.
What is a Capsuleer?
As a Capsuleer, Tyrans' body has been cybernetically augmented, special implants in and along the spine are interfaced with the biological nervous system. When "plugged-in" to a compatable system, like a Starship, or other computer interface, they enable him to share, or completely upload his consciousness and memories into that device. Giving him complete control as if such were just... his body.
Complete control?
Meaning? when plugged into a starship in this manner, firing the engines is, like, walking along the street, calculating and initiating the warp drive feels like, jumping between cracks on the sidewalk. a little mental math and boom, Angry Einstein.
But Immortality?
Sure, when you can upload your consciousness to a computer completely, that means you understand what consciousness is, where it hides, how it interacts with the body, so naturally, Growing a body that can accept that consciousness is a logical next step. When a capsuleer piloted ship detects catastrophic damage, it automatically opens FTL communication with the Cloning network, and you wake up in a waiting clone body. As long as you have a clone available? you wake up as yourself, no premade clones available? Then you wake up in a generic clone until you can create your own.
Are there dangers to this?
The preference is certainly not to die, of course, cloning isn't without dangers, loss of memory, and most certainly the last few moments of life are inevitably lost. but it certainly beats the alternative! there is also some speculation as to whether or not the initial clone, the initial upload from pure biological creature to your first capsuleer clone is a copy? or a true consciousness transfer. but thats for the philosophers to argue,
So what do we do with a space cat?
Tyran is a privateer! What's a privateer? It means he owns his own ship, or ships, he isn't beholden to a government, or a company, or anything like that. He is your classic scifi trope Han Solo, or Malcolm Reynolds, "This is my ship, and it does what I want it to, It's my home, my workplace, and my personal vehicle" Sometimes that means... well... Work... on either side of the law, but always within Tyran's own personal Ethical boundaries. Sometimes those ethical boundaries don't agree with the law, making him a bit of a wildcard, and in some cases, an outright... space Pirate.
I chose to make Tyran a Lynx capsuleer, because I love talking about science fiction, I love space, I love space battles, I love physics. and I love cats, with the Lynx family being some of my favorites. Tyran is here to represent all of the things I love in this world, and to be... me. Well an idealized version of me, the silly cat that comes out when I'm around people I feel comfortable being myself with! He represents the repressed //Real me// that hides behind the person my social anxiety tells me society needs me to be, But I'm working on that.
Thanks for reading my lore drop!
Have a wonderful day, and if you read it, Tell me your favorite spaceship in the comments!
