Okay, I have been on Second Life since 2008. Now as a long time user of Second Life, I have pretty much seen it, been there, and done it, so to speak. In other words I am a veteran of that old online world. Let me be first to say that it is fun to use, but its also writhe with a bunch of edge lords, drama queens, and back stabbers every bit as toxic as those found on any other social platform. And you bet you sweet fuzzy ass that I have seen intense dramas and been though my fair share of intense dramas on SL. Many of those dramas were caused by people that wanted a piece of this chipmunk for what ever angst they had on me. I have also been in dramas through my own mistakes too. Wrather caused by somebody else or caused by my own fuck ups there is one thing that anybody that is a long time user of Second Life has learned. it is NOT to hand out trust willy nilly. See, when I was new on Second Life I was eager to talk to people, explore new regions, and meat new faces. However after being betrayed, back stabbed, used, and left for dead, and losing allot of work I had put blood sweat and tears in, I am not so trusting of others on second life. Also finding myself in online dramas that climaxed in online harassment, hackings, DOXing, and IRL death threats, further drilled into my skull that trust is a precious commodity that should NOT be handed it out willy nilly. In Second Life as well as on my other online fronts, you have to bend over backwards to earn my trust. If that is a problem for you, then good. I want you having to go through the equivalent of running the Boston Marathon while carrying an angry Siberian Tiger biting and slashing you into pulled pork to get my trust because those who don't pack the gear to do what it takes to earn my trust are most likely toxic people I would want NOTHING to do with anyway. I can guarantee you that I am not the only long time user of Second Life that feels this way.
So what this means to you, the new brand new Second Life user, is if your request to join a group owned and operated by an OG Second Life user only to be told "No". Its not the group owner or group mod being a mean asshole. Its the fact that long time Second Life users who have been through their fair share of dramas on that virtual world to know better than to welcome any random person that comes their way. You want to earn trust from an OG Second Life user, then you have to PROVE that you are not some drama queen nor any other species of toxic person out to start shit. You have to demonstrate that you are a quality human being with a good heart and good personality who treats others as how you want to be treated. Fall short of those requisites, sucks to be you until you do.
