When we have fucking moron for a president it's to be expected, my mom had difficulty finding anew job after the one she had been working at for 7 years closed and found one at the store next to it before they fired her cause they thought she was stealing money, then she got another job closer to home before firing her temporarily after they accused her of stealing a soda before they looked back at the footage and saw they were mistaken and rehired her. So yeah this is our shit country for ya. But don't give up, I know you can do it buddy.

I've been trying to get into the animation industry for well over a decade. And I'm always met with two reasons why I don't qualify for a position:

1. Don't have industry experience.
2. I'm white.

So my question to these companies are always this:

How do I get industry experience when the industry doesn't want to give me a chance to gain experience? It's like me going to a driving school and they tell me "Sorry, we can't teach you how do drive because you do not have driving experience"

I've pretty much stopped looking for jobs in animation because there is just no point in trying anymore. I just do it for myself now. So I get what you're going through. It's tough out there.

I know how you feel. I tried last year to get hired at a few places around my city, but even if I do qualify for something, I don't land it. It's hard to get an interview, and it's even harder to actually get the job. For me I can tell it's my lack of experience, but if they gave me a chance I could definitely be a good employee, that is if their AI hiring practice actually fucking works (which it doesn't) and the job listings aren't just there for the sake of brevity.

I've resorted to doing some studying for a field I have a mild interest in, but feel like I can't complete it due to the possibility of having to do it again if I move states, or the dread of not getting hired on anywhere for the exact same bullshit. That last line is true. But most of these companies are listing ghost jobs. They claim they have slots, but they don't actually exist, they say they can't fill them and then get either tax breaks or H1B visas to help fill the "many" vacancies they can't.

Yes, you are going to find that most hiring managers aren't looking for the most qualified or talented employee. They are looking for the people similar to them.

The key to the interview is clicking on a personal level. If you are scoring an interview with the hiring manager, then they want to see if you mesh well on a personality basis.

That's always the worst part about the process: realizing the last barrier to a job is working for someone who lacks boundaries and wants an indentured servant who has the same personality as they do.
