New job acquired....and it's gone

Well, this whole situation has been an experience. I'm still a bit disappointed that it didn't work out, but I'm really not that surprised.
So, currently I've been working at a place called Goofy's. It's a little dive bar a few miles away and I've been there for almost 9 months now. Funnily enough, I've been the only new person out of around or so that has stayed there. I actually really don't mind the job at all. There's some idiots there, but that's to be expected. The hours are ok, but during the winter here, I'm usually working 3-4 hour shifts and she's been having me work 6 or so days a week. Which it's nice having short shifts, but having to work all those days is annoying. That and the pay isn't super great. Which I knew it wouldn't be going into it, it just sucks that not much can be done about it.
A few weeks back I heard my one coworker, Amber, was leaving for a place in town here. The place is called Sign of the Horse. It's a small bar/brewery that caught fire a year ago and hadn't opened back up, until now. They ended up renting out a place in a different part of town and were planning on reopening. I found out they were holding open interviews on the day I had off and it was the same day we lost our friend. So I kind of took it as a sign.
I got hired in, in part because of Amber giving me the good word to them. So then it was just pushing through November as best I could. Goofy's puts out a whole month of scheduling at a time. I didn't want to inconvenience them anymore than I would be and just work through November. Then I'd either quit or just work my Thursday shift at the very least.
The 3rd was orientation day at Sign of the Horse. It was weird though, It looked like around 6-8 numbers that showed up in the group chat. But only myself, Amber and another guy that showed up. The head chef was there as well and some other guy showed up that I guess worked there before. But the whole day was weird. We were there for 5 and a half hours and no training was done. They showed us around and then the head chef just had us do prep work the entire time. Well, I didn't want to burn myself from both ends too much, but I figured I'd attempt to get in another day and managed to get in on the 8th for 3 hours to hopefully get some actual training, but nope. It was just more prep work. At that point I was freaking out a little. Soft opening nights and the grand opening was the next week. Along with unfortunately I was only about to work 1-2 shifts there a week until December rolled around.
The 11th was soft opening day 2 and the first night I'd actually be cooking during a shift there. But same thing again, no training and just prep work. About an hour before dinner I pretty much begged the head chef for some sort of training. I didn't know how their ticket system worked, Goofy's uses a screen which I think makes it pretty easy, I didn't know how the stations worked, I barely knew the menu. It was simple enough stuff, but I didn't know how plating worked, portions worked and it was around 70 freaking items in total. So it was way too big anyways. Even then he didn't do anything for me. Handed me the 3 small versions of the menu they were using that night. Just printed a ticket out so I could see how they came out, like that would help me somehow. He was even going to stick me on a difficult station, meat, until I pretty much begged him to. Even on an easier station I was lost that night. Then once it was all over, I didn't even know how to break down and properly clean my station. I got several different suggestions from people, so that probably wasn't done right either.
I thought it over to the next day, but in the end I messaged the head chef and the guy that was essentially the gm there and told them it wasn't going to work out. I don't know what's with the head chef, but all of that was ridiculous. No training and the menu was way too big. He was also doing things like leaving cooked shrimp and raw beef on the counter for hours before putting it away. I also found out during that shift that Amber quit the day prior. Turns out he was being an ass to her the entire shift on Monday. Kept saying shitty things to her and belittling her. Let alone from day 1 he was making random sexual comments towards her as well. Apparently when she quit the gm made it almost sound like they knew about these personality issues with him, but just didn't do anything about it.
In the long run I hope they get rid of the guy. But it sounds like another instance where they'll just keep hold of him, because that's how it works out. Won't be surprised if it bites them in the ass in the end though. Either way I was kind of disappointed. I was going to be getting a good bit more in pay and the hours I wanted, between there and Goofy's. But like I've told others, I've been on the struggle bus way too many times and I shouldn't have to keep doing that. Yes, I'm competent enough that I could have probably just dealt with it and kept going on there. But I shouldn't have had to. I almost always tend to push on no matter how bad things get, but I'm just sick of that anymore. I'm sure another opportunity will come up at some point. I just have to hope that it won't fall apart like this one did.

I try to stay pretty close to town here. I'm used to only driving maybe 10-15 minutes for work. Once I start getting closer to half an hour drive or anything like that, it would have to be severely worth it. Because my car is beginning to have issues as it is and driving more is just going to make it break quicker.
I've had issues working 11-7 when I was still at petco. Let alone working more and going in earlier would put even more of a drain on my body. That and I'm not very into jumping back into directly working with people again. Hence why I've tried staying away from any kind of retail job or something again.
