For everyone spazzing over Avatar...

Great movie, don't get me wrong. I loved it :3
But...it's like the military version of Fern Gully. Think about it.
It's also one of those movies that you come out of depressed because your reality is pretty damn boring. Well, boring compared to a world full of bio-luminescence and that weird direct-connect Im-linking-to-your-soul thing.

And you're right, it does seem boring compared to that
you're right.
Never heard of Fern Gully though..
It's Pocahontas with sexy alien people and giant mechas. That means it's awesome. :D
It reminded me of Dances With Wolves more than Fern Gully, but now that you say it, it IS actually quite similar. Still, I thought Avatar was better then Fern Gully, even though that movie was a childhood favourite of mine. Looking at it now... Well, I don't really know. Can't remember much about it.
The Na'vi were pretty awesome :3 They reminded me of smurfs, except tall, fierce and kind of attractive in a weird way. I don't know... Still, awesome movie =D
I'll probably get Avatar on DVD as well :) Even the video game is kind of cool :o
Learning another culture's religion, the difference in species/race when falling in love.
It isn't trying to be a revolutionary story. It's more of a retelling with our modern technology. The landscape, absolutely beautiful, did you ever just take a second, shake your head and say "wow" it was crystal clear beauty. And in 3D! how many times in your life do you get to see the world in 3D.... Don't answer that.
The Flora and fauna felt like a deep sea diver's perspective, so much bioluminescence, They really complimented the vast landscape they had built for the movie.
It was more of a visual pleasure experience, and I really enjoyed it. Now I just have to wait for all the artists out there to rule 34 the Na-vi. Specifically because I want to see what their creative minds will do to incorporate these mind-controlling tentacles. Mindrape anyone? 'till then.
And I will admit, I was nervous about seeing it in 3D because I thought it would give me a splitting headache. But surprisingly it didn't, and by the end of the movie it just blended in naturally.
I still want to know if the "mated for life" deal involved those tentacles. I know, I'm perverted ._.
And I saw the movie twice, and the second time I looked closer at the mating scene I noticed that the tentacle things were going down between their legs while they were hugging.
