Not too worried bout the discord thing cuz tbh mostly every site is doing the same thing. So I'm smooth sailin it hahaha

I am considering that as well. It's the most Discord-like, open-source, and has clients for all OS's (awesome for Linux users).

The only concern I have is a very old one, which is sooner or later, your favourite chat program is ruined or goes away. I've been hopping from platform to platform for over 30 years now; none of them seem to last all that long before some corporation screws them up, or they just die out. Sad, but seems to be the way of things.

I am definitely not impressed with the direction Discord is taking. Privacy is immensely important, and people should be able to use a product anonymously. Even if they "claim" they are not sharing the data, they've been hacked before, as has the 3rd party company they are using to do age verification, so... no, the data is not safe and never will be.

I'm of the opinion that moving to just one place is

Because as someone else said, it's just gonna happen again in a few years
So I'm diversifying, I'm trying out a bunch of different places and not going to settle on just one

Ive been platform hopping for 2 decades now, this is likely never going to end. I think the best thing at this point is to consider any messaging platform just a temporary place, no matter how nice and convenient it is. I currently treat this site as my center place for my social media presence because I dont see this site collapsing completely like other platforms (though I could be wrong, hopefully not). Just dont give out your information to anyone no matter what site, have to return to the early 2000s internet mindset and not giving out your personal information. As much as it sucks we'll all move on whether we want to or not, I imagine the next platform will feel amazing for as long as it lasts so just gotta cherish it before its gone.

Im personally sticking with telegram as my main social channel until russia or the EU decide to kill privacy there too. Ill check out these newer platforms but wont invest too much until one of them wins out or becomes the place most of my friends are on. See you on Fluxor and Stoat and maybe any other platform that looks nice. If all else fails we are all still here on FA hopefully.

I wish I could move to a different platform, but there's so may alternatives, it's hard to keep connected with all my friends. Plus, they might be forced to enact age verification systems as well.
