Well, today we received information from the doctor
The surgery is scheduled for Monday (the doctor couldn’t find any earlier availability, so for now it’s planned for that day).
On the positive side: the doctor is very passionate about his work and actually loves handling cases like this, lol. So there’s a high chance the surgery will be successful without further complications.
Now for the bad part.
The surgery won’t be performed on a regular operating table, but on a special transparent one, which not every clinic has. Why is that? As I understood it, the procedure is done almost “blind.” They showed me examples of post-surgery results, and the final incision is quite small. During the operation, they will periodically take X-rays to monitor the process, because it’s difficult to see much directly through such a small opening. I think this complexity also affects the cost.
Current estimated costs:
₴40,000~ for the implant (about $913)
₴70,000+ for everything else (about $1600+)
What “everything else” includes:
-the surgery itself
-anesthesia
-3–4 days of hospitalization
-food at the clinic
-basic humane treatment (honestly, this is probably the saddest part — no money means no proper care)
Medications are not included in this list. I also assume transportation isn’t included either, since this is a private clinic. So most likely we’ll have to use the same medical transport service that took her there last time (that is, it will also cost money).
Today I’m going to try launching an auction for a commission in order to raise funds for my mom’s surgery.
Please consider this not so much as a regular commission slot, but rather as a donation to support her treatment, with art from me as a thank-you.
I want to clarify this in advance, because these slots are priced higher than my usual commissions. This is due to the fact that the funds are going toward an urgent and important need.
Unfortunately, it’s simply not possible for me to take enough regular commissions at my standard prices to cover such a large amount, especially considering the workload I’m about to face. I just wouldn’t be able to handle it.
