In the past 200 or so years coyotes have seen their original home destroyed and changed but have moved on and now inhabit areas they never were before. I also find the chorus to be a similar mournful tone to their cry ^_^

A lot of Native American influence in that song. In fact, listening to it, gives you a feeling of Coyotes in the desert. I just kinda stumbled onto it. I prefer it, it's a more serious theme song, and the Native American language really tops it off.
