If you're into this WTO new age stuff have a look see. If you don't care don't bother pointing that out, since by not responding you'd accomplish the same :3

That feels like you're getting poop on my peanut butter, and I don't think I like a poop reese's poop cups :(
This is the opposite of not-caring and caring for it-- it's caring agaisnt it D:
I personally believe that there is validity for much of the New Age spirituality. Its mainly "trust" based, but I can't logically contemplate all of the universe without it.
This does not mean however, that there is validity within all things New Age. And 2012 is one of those things. It is mearly a pop culture phenomena made popular recently by the promotion of global warming theory and environmentalism. Yes it played a part in the Mayan calendar. But many prophecies of doom by religious organizations have been made in the past (even by those currently considered reputable, such as the Jehovah's Witnesses' claims of the rapture occurring in 1920, among other dates), and I don't seem to recall many of them panning out.
I side with Neil deGrasse Tyson, while yes, it is crazy that on Dec. 21st, 2012, the Sun, Earth, and the Center of the Galaxy will be perfectly aligned (a major fact quoted on 2012 websites)... It does that EVERY Dec. 21st.
Sorry Maf, I'll believe in 2012 when it happens.
If what you say is true (and I don't want to doubt you), then the video is claiming that 2012 is more of a manifestation of public fear feeding upon itself, yes?
Well, that's basically the entire point of propaganda; to create an idea in the public conscious which causes the public to continue promoting the original idea... Soooo yeah.
I mean it's an interesting idea, but really that's been the "New Media" way of getting ideas out there, hasn't it? By spreading fear first, and information second?
Besides all of the standard monetary policy understanding and resource distribution theories, it is the only science I know of which says "Everything's going to be ok! How do I know? I have graphs!"
And as such, whenever I see fear-mongering of any kind (racial tensions, global warming, wars), I don't really care. Because I know that the invisible hand of the market has consistently guided us to safety. Sometimes it takes a little prodding, but damn does it solve problems.
If you're not aware factory farmed foods tend to have much lower nutrition than properly produced foods. Vegetables grown on depleted soil for example have 1/10th the nutrients humans need and most farmland is sustained through fertilizers rather than on nutrient rich soil. Boving growth hormone increases the growth of the cow, but it also causes them to develop cancers and the increased growth speed substantially reduces the protein density of the meat. The most common diseases in the US and developed world for example are actually the result of malnutrition.
I'm actually curious about the fluoride stuff because I haven't seen any studies done since the 1940's on the health benefits of the stuff. Though I'm sure there's some out there. I'll probably look some up at some point.
First of all, I know that I need Prozac because the way I felt before I was ever on ANYTHING matches the way I feel when I'm off the Prozac. And that is not a way I enjoy feeling. It is also a very dangerous way to be feeling--I have done the most harm, both to myself and others, when off it.
I can accept that SOME anger is born from fear, but not all. For example, while watching the video I was also trying to build a specific object with legos. Every time the pieces separated due to the pressure I was inadvertently exerting on them, I became infuriated. Like, I-want-to-kill-someone infuriated. You COULD argue that that was born from the fear of failure...but that doesn't feel right to me. It felt more like the universe was denying me of what I wanted--as opposed to taking it away.
Third, there's a logical fallacy. He's telling us to NOT believe anything anyone else says...but that includes him. How am I supposed to disbelieve everything if that includes the idea that I should disbelieve everything? I know I'm oversymplifying, but I believe my logic is sound.
Fourth, I have trouble with what he's telling me on a personal, emotional level. I have ALWAYS desired supernatural powers--or, at the very least, proof that supernatural things exist. Not evidence, PROOF. And he is telling me that I can access such a realm--if I only give up every concept I have about the way the world works. But if the laws of physics do not apply, then neither do the quantifiers that make something supernatural. So, essentially, I can never have what I've always wanted.
Besides all of that, he pissed me off when he claimed that global warning is not an actual threat. I have seen its effects IN MY LIFETIME. FIRSTHAND. I KNOW it's a legitimate threat.
So all of my ideas are based on things that other people have told me. But that's all there is. I can't accept that a single human being, having no information given to it, having no one else to learn from, could survive in even a natural world. I just can't.
