I wonder if any of the rabid gamers will notice the lack of scythe or bad-assery in the original text.

It's been a while, so I may be mistaken, but I could have sworn that not even one demon gets dismembered in that story. :B

Actually, I believe a large part of the story had to do with all the people getting dismembered or just generally made to feel unpleasant by all the demons, being the immortal hellspawns that they are. And even then, they used pitchforks, I believe, so I'm not sure where the scythe is coming from.

They made a video game supposedly based on Dante's Inferno, a 700-year-old epic poem, but really is just a God of War-ish hack and slash affair about a dude named Dante who fights demons in Hell. Now they're releasing the original poem as a tie-in to the video game. :P

worst thing of all, I have a friend who is going to suddenly become an 'expert' on that 700 year poem... and is probably connected to the authors family... oh and he'll spout off random crap... I just don't want to have to put up with that.

The old poem is actually really, really long, I think that version comes with 16 pages of concept art for the game, or something like that.
