My neck lumpiness

Okay, so I get to my English class this morning and it's about 2 hours. At the beginning of the class, I ran my hand across something odd on my neck...
A lump D8
So I start freaking out, my head is spinning, and I'm thinking, "This lump is going to kill me before I get out of class!"
After calming down so I can write an essay, I got to the band hallway and learned a little bassoon! ;) Then I asked my friend/mentor what she thought of the lump. She grabbed another friend from band, whose had a medical background from the past 6 years, and she says it may have something to do with if I like/dislike salt. I was suggested to either go to a health grocery store and get they're recommendations, or go see a doctor in case it's something more severe.
I'm hoping it's nothing. I've never had to go to the doctor for anything before. My mom thinks it's my tonsils, my dad says it could be swollen gland, but he can't see it cuz he's 8 hours away from me!!! So please pray for me and hope it's nothing serious.
