Im just speaking generally, I HAVE seen artists who charge that much, or more. Zaush for example charged like $800 for a commission.

Well, sketches ain't worth more than 20, and even then...Fuck you O.o;

Yeah, some people push it and think they can really get people to fork over a nice steak dinner for some art half the time. It's stupid.

It is no real lose really. For ever "artist" that charges a high price for a less than worthy "sketch" you will find several artists that can do it better and cheaper even.

And it feels amazing when you DO! :D Since we're all on the topic, know of any doing such now? We might as well trade names. >.>

If you're talking about Gideon's 2-minutes boring stiff-posed photocopied-repetitive 30-35$ sketches at furry cons, I think I can name you a few people.

Yeah. Probably, can't say I blame him, if you can make that much that easy, good for ya.

More power to them, I say. If they've worked their way to that kind of popularity and people will pay that much for their art, good for them. A lot of it is up to supply and demand. If a popular artist doesn't want to be swamped with work and can get a high price for relatively little effort, then it'd be silly not to. :)

But on the subject, I've seen some fairly mediocre artists charge up the butt for work making them even MORE popular. It's like people see the high price and equate that with good work when it's really not. People are strange. :P

My theory is this..

Artists.. depending on their skill will make MORE money from doing art if they keep there prices the same but improve on art. Rather then charging 150-200 Dollars for a colored pic....

You will have more people purchase art if you keep prices low..

But ..... they get greedy.... >.>
