Had to study the Essenes at one point. Very interesting stuff. Try the forgotten gospels too. Gospel of Thomas is quite illuminating. Not to give too much away though :P

well depends on the topic of the gosple in particular. I know theres one that said he was running around having kids and the author was a Roman born 400 years after christ. So I bet hed know alot bout how jesus lived his life. Im also not an avid bible reader so you have me at a disadvantage.

Any significant records from that era are non biblical. The one I'm referring to in particular is a historical record from a tibetan monastery chronicling the visit and training of a middle eastern man around the same time jesus disappeared from biblical record. The records were translated in the 1930's and then retranslated and confirmed again in the 1970's. Interestingly he was apparently quite talented in the traditional healing arts :P

However yes I had heard that tid bit before. He did have 3 wisemen from the east . Who knows his ideas were pretty revolutionary for the time.

They weren't actually revolutionary, his teachings were already in practice in tibet. He merely spread them and tried to explain them in a way that applied to the world view of his people at home.

Noted . :) My dad thinks i became a bhuddist lol. I was raised catholic but due to the information learned in school and merely asking critical questions i left. Though i do follow some Bhuddist precepts .

Hardly anyone knows Tai Chi. The current public incarnation was actually developed by a tai chi master so he wouldnt have to teach it to a conquering emperor that demanded to be trained in it. Temple Tai Chi is the form you want to learn if you want the real deal, it's what shaolin kung fu is based on.

Interesting yes we learn Yang Style Tai Chi along with Northern Shaolin Kung fu. And having been to Tai Chi tournaments i have seen a miriade of styles. What people dont realise is that it is a martial art . Internal. Combined with Kung fu (which has a large number of styles under it as well)

Problem is learning the history on some of these styles has proven difficult. I was asked by my sifu why our Plum Flower fist form and Plum Flower Broad Sword Form were called Plum Flower. (she calls me the researcher haha ) Truth is why and who developed it was left up to conjecture and / or lost to antiquity . Either way its an awesome form.

We do teach the martial aspects of Tai Chi as well. But yes much of the styles of kung fu were hidden by families from powers that be. I wouldnt mind chatting about this with ya more some time.

One of my favorite styles and techniques in kung fu is Wing Chun, was developed by a woman :)
