Into the future
2009 was an interesting year for sure. LOTS AND LOTS of changes, some good, some not so good. It has been a big learning experience for me.
So here is looking back at my year end wrap up from 2008
First the goals....
I'm still sticking with the plan of new things, new adventures, new achievements.
(I def did pretty good with this!)
I want to get a 2nd bike (still keeping my other one) just want to have something that is heavier (mine is only 360lbs) for longer distance riding. I want to do a couple longer distance rides in 2009.
(Well common sense prevailed and I traded in my bike for my new one, a Buell XB12XT Ulysses. It's the ultimate bike I wanted and it just really fell into place how things happened)
Camping! I'm planning on at least one camping trip!
(sighs didn't make it)
Continue on getting myself into better shape. I think I'm going to be due for an asthma meds change after the first of the year so hoping that I have as good or better success than I have had so far. It's nice to be able to breath better.
(Doc increased the asthma meds dosage and also looked at the pain study I went through and am borderline for a change there. The pain study showed I was border line between level 2 and level 3 and I really don't want to make the jump to the heavier meds but will depend on if I can get my back into better shape)
Explore and learn more about myself and try to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.
(I did pretty good I think. I re-united myself with my family after 25 years. Met nieces and nephews that I had never met including my next older brother's son Scott who he and I really hit it off)
Just try and generally get more done. This past 18 months have been hard and more times then not, things didn't get accomplished the way I wanted because I was just mentally worn out and no motivation or energy to get a lot done.
(Got a lot done and still more to do. The move upstairs while no real preplanning done will make things lot easier for everyone. Also getting ready to lighten the load on a lot of "stuff" that I have that is just collecting dust that someone else might enjoy)
I want to expand a bit with my catering. Having access to a brand new commercial kitchen will help a lot!
(Now have regular clients with weekly jobs, it's nice but tiring!)
Def looking forward to wanting to be more active and get more exercise.
(This will continue into the new year!)
And what all went on this year.......
The year started interestingly and I did have a lot of positive things happen in my life over 2009.
I also had some big negatives. This included letting go of my best husky friend Mitchell after 14 years the week after my birthday. His health had been getting slowly worse to the point he could no longer even stand so I had to make the decision to let him go. I was there with him all the way through holding his paw and petting him and he was never left alone. It was tough but something that I had to do. Now 6+ months later, I'm starting to think about maybe getting a puppy/younger dog sometime this year. Just going to see how things go. I def want it to be a Husky or Malamute (or mix). I know I probably can't afford more than a pound puppy which is fine since that is what Dusty is. Actually have a possibility and will see how things work out there. Both Dusty and Kima are up there in age and when the time comes that one or the other moves to the next plane, I don't want them to go without canine companionship since both are such social dogs. So adding sooner it will help keep them maybe feeling younger having a younger dog around and less trauma/stress later.
My panic attacks have pretty much subsided with the occasional tight chest and small freak out. I have only had a few times over the year that I had to take my "magic pill". The worst thing about them is that they 99% of the time trigger an asthma attack which I think is worse than the panic attack itself. My biggest trigger is still high stress situations where I feel cornered. I have learned to deal with a lot and still learning.
Spike's dog Titus had to have surgery a couple weeks ago (he is doing great) and to help him out we swapped floors (Titus is on restricted movement for 8-10 weeks) of the house so we are now upstairs and Spike and Titus are downstairs. Dusty was soooooo not happy about the move at first but I think actually she perfers it upstairs now more than down. What was Spike's bedroom (for those that have been to the house) is now the upstairs living room and we have a separate bedroom (where Maui slept when he lived here) and a combined guest room/Silver's studio. We still have a lot of containers to sort through/get rid of stuff but it's really looking good. We had to put some $$$ into shelving and stuff because there is only one closet upstairs but it's worked well. Just have to figure out the rest of where stuff goes. The upstairs bathroom has been slowly getting redone with a nice curved shower curtain rod (it's amazing how much that opens up a small shower) and a few other things we still want to do in the bathroom when we get the time/money.
I have been doing a lot of back end work on MFM getting things for like the Con Suite and Karina to make her life as easy as possible. It's going to be an amazing year I think. This really is a new beginning. Ironically.....I was asked to give a job reference a month or so ago and our great rep that was at the Holiday Inn, Karla is now working at Whispering Woods and will be overseeing the group (not to mention the butthead GM at the Holiday Inn was fired a couple weeks ago) So lots happening there on the MFM front.
Looking forward to getting my W-2's so I can do my taxes. I get the sales tax back on my motorcycle, YAY! I can get my cushion built back up that has taken a pounding lately for things.
My nephew Scott has come to visit. It's def been a fun visit. I def know I cannot keep up with a 21 year old and let him do his thing! Sleep is a very wonderful thing!
Bad Dog has been busy. As of 1/1/10 we now have our 3am license!
Well enough ramblings! Happy hopes that this year brings everyone much happiness and good health. Just remember, to always appreciate who and what you have in your life. It's great to want things but you shouldn't forget or take for granted what you already have!
