One of the reasons I don't do commissions at the moment. I'd hate to get in a habit where I can't produce stuff for the people who commissioned me. I'd like to say that getting paid would be enough to prompt me to getting the work done, but I'm a fickle artists who works on momentum and inspiration alone for the most part.

The bigger shame is, I know that artist, and its a bit distressing to hear that about her. I would have at least given half a refund back for taking so long.

The only thing, and I know its an excuse, that I can think of is that she sometimes does projects with her roomates, which puts everyone's work that she's doing on hold.

It's nice to see there are some artists who actually care. I've tried being polite, I've tried being kind and forgiving with Tiera, but it just doesn't get anywhere.

I'd also understand if she was stopping taking new work and commissions to focus on her older, still outstand ones (like mine) but not only is she not, she's just announced an entire new line of art she's doing (starting to make 3D sculptures of people's fursonas) and is already taking orders for them.

I've been patient for nine months with her and it's gotten me no where so I'm stuck with being harsh and cruel now to get her to work and I'd really rather not because I don't like to be an asshole to people on a professional level unless they REALLY deserve it.

That's a shame, but that's also not fair to you, the client.

I doubt she's give me a refund, but I am starting to get to that point where I'm going to just say 'forget it. You can't handle it, give me my money back and we'll drop this.'

Forgot to mention that she hasn't offered me ANYTHING. The only thing she's done is generate excuses, seemingly not work on it unless I sent her a message and ask what's going on and give me attitude when she sends me her half arsed attempts. Well, what are these "half assed attempts" you speak of? Is it just that her pictures don't meet your standard or something? Because I could understand if she's sent you a few images and you said "that's not good enough" why she may be reluctant to work on your commission, if she has to try over and over 10 times where as she could get 10 other commissions done in that time for less picky customers.

Oh no no, these aren't pictures, I commissioned her to make me 8 glass chaos emerald replicas (seven usual ones plus the 2006 'dark' emerald') and matching resin stands. She sent me the first batch and all but 3 of the stands were completely broken, shattered and unusable because she didn't use any packaging when she sent them, the emeralds had minimal wrapping and as such many of them were chipped, scratched or marked and all of them except for two had splotchy, half completed pain jobs where you could clearly see parts were unpainted and other parts where the paint had run. The paint was also thin enough that you could see the brush strokes along most of the sides.

The second set of stands she sent me were about 60% smaller than the first and she'd chopped off 3 of the main supporting parts of the stand to save herself effort. Naturally, this means the stands are extremely unstable, and on top of that, most of the stands have very warped bases, so they don't even sit right and the emeralds which are designed to sit in them just fall out, and in one of the cases, then rolled off the table and shattered on the floor while I was out of the room for a few minutes.

You asked me to delete it, well then it is now. >_> *SIGH* Sometimes, doing refs involving characters that needs a REALISTIC approach is NOT easy for some artist to do. Even me! This is ONE reason I screw up on that. The other is you didn't see the complete back view of your character unlike the one ref I did so THAT'S another failure. Third is the eyes, I know what you mean about the eyes there but is that Necessary to do? It would be easy but somehow.....it's not due to how hard to get the realistic eyes right. And lastly, you didn't explained a lot about both of your characters, their species, age, etc. All you explained to me is how they look like, it's good but do they have decent bio-data?


Even me...or any artists are having hard time doing some commissions too. Same goes as Requests. Some people can't do well on some of them because they got some time on their hands, including real life. Or maybe that request is very impossible to achieve they somehow can't do it.

Huh? No cosmo, you're not one of the artists I included in this jounal and I was in no way referencing you. I was eagerly looking forward to the results, and I sent you a message just for a chase up. It hasn't been double the original time and the person I was referencing as 'sometime in the future' was a different artist who is now working on my commissions. The only thing I was disappointed in was the results. I understand not everyone prefers more realistic approaches and as a reitteration, this journal is not directed at you in any way. You are not the only artists I had comissioned at that point. Not by a long shot.

i'm not going to go all defensive and make excuses just because she's my sister, but i offer some answers. maybe if you're willing to not get so frustrated so easily.

i don't know if you know this, but tie was suffering from some money problems when she lived in virginia and has just relocated to a different state and gotten the chance to settle down in a more financially stable environment. for someone who talks so much about priorities, i'm sure you can understand a situation like that takes some time.

the bases for the emeralds are ones she makes herself. they are not very easy to make and the molds don't last forever, so they might differ from previous versions. if there are problems with them standing, tell her.

getting your commissions done right has to go both ways. you have to be clear with you expectations. you seem fast to talk shit about her in your journal, while in your explanation to someone else, you say you don't want to bother contacting her all that much or reminding her because you don't want to be a dick. but you're willing to post an in depth journal about how you're so unhappy with her work.

have you tried talking to her about how to fix the packaging problems, maybe give her some suggestions? that alone seems to be the biggest problem here :/

Dude, seriously I was pleasant and patient with her for 9 months and she achieved nothing, chasing her up every other week to see what progress she'd made. 8 months, one week of extra time I gave her before I started getting pissed off with a lack of results. That's patience a Saint would struggle to display.

If that was her situation, then her moral priorities would have been not to take the commission until she could afford to. I'm not here to donate to her financial stability. Frankly, I also don't care what her situation is, plain and simple: I commission you as an artist to produce artowrk for me, and it's agreed upon and I pay, you dramn well produce it. A lot of artists on FA seem to lack the brain power to comprehend this.

I know she makes them herself. However, by her own admittal her second attempt at the bases she made them smaller to save herself time and effort and then also cut of three of the four major supports so it was easier on her. No I'm sorry, I paid for something useable, not something simmilar because she's too lazy to do a proper job.

I gave her my clear expectations, she showed me a picture of what they supposedly looked like and I said 'they look great'. However, what was in that picture and what arrived were /not/ the same thing. Unlike in the picture, the real thing's paint jobs were substandard and the stands were litterally shattered, crushed, mauled and broken beyond recognition. I did not pay her to do half arsed jobs and that's the ONLY thing she's doing.

Also, you're not obviously able to read properly since what you read is processed by your beliefs and bias before it reaches your brain. The other person I specifically gave her an unspecified amount of time as long as it was less than 6 months and she's working within that. Tiera promised me 3 weeks and completely and utterly failed to meet that standard she set herself and promised me to uphold. She's been going for about 10 and 3/4 months now over the original 3 weeks. I've talked to her repeatedly and the -ONLY- time she works on my commission is when I hound her to. Otherwise she's content to forget about it.

The biggest probpem here is she's fucking incapable. I came through on my end of the deal and paid both sums of money within 12 hours of her reaching the agreed payment points on the project. I expect the same in return. If you care about it that much, slap her over the back of the head, tell her she has to drop everyone else's work and all her jobs, art wise or real and get this done.

If her work was even barely adequate, I'd accept it, but as it stands, I could do a better job than her and do it for a fraction of the cost. Before you be a smart ass and ask why don't I then it's because I've paid her to do it.

I've told her if she fails again I will be issuing demands for a refund. I have my doubts about whether she will oblige either. Either way, the AUD to the USD back then was a lot poorer, so even if I get the $150 US back now, I'm still making about a $125 AU loss.

Funny thing. I was talking to her and she seems to be under the impression she offered a full refund if you sent back the stand she already sent you. You don't come across as being very reasonable yourself, really, and I have a hard time believing you're just being so royally reamed by so many people just because you have poor choices in artists. I have known Tiera for years...and she has never been late on a commission once.

As I hear it, the first stand was broken upon delivery. You requested a new one. You did not pay for shipping on the second one. Correct? Yes, correct, do not lie to me. She sent you a second one. You got mad because it wasn't the exact same thing, even though it's a handmade, non-modeled process, which means exact replicas are not possible. Let's see, it costs around $30 for the resin to make a stand that big, plus time and effort to make a new one on the mere CLAIM that it was supposedly shattered by mail. There was no guarantee it'd get to you, and as far as I know, YOU didn't pay for premium-care shipping, which technically means that's your fault anyway. You were not charged for this second stand, it was provided at a loss of material for you.

I've been reasonable for the first 8 or 11 months. Tiera -ONLY- worked on my commission when I sent her a message and asked what was happening and then only for an hour or so and otherwise forgot about it. I was pleasant, I was polite I was patient and understanding. She never offered me an apology, never offered gift art, just excuses. Eventually, I quickly came to realize she was simply a scammer, even if this was just a one off.

She told me the delivery was included within the quoted price and so that makes it her fault when she ships them without packaging and especially so since she didn't bother checking shipping prices before she gave me the quote. It's entirely her fault in that reguard and I won't accept the slightest responsibility for her negligence.

By all measures of international law, she's committed fraud by providing a service and product significantly -NOT- as described and taking the money for it. As such, she's the one at fault here not me. I couldn't give a fuck about who else commissioned her, she fucked up with my commission and fucked up royally and now you're threatening to bring this to something a little more serious than words.

But, you didn't. First one broke, you paid no insurance, technically her obligation ended there. Your lack of purchasing of any kind of warranty, or lack of her saying there was any kind, belies your argument of fraud. She sent you a second one, which, after claiming dissatisfaction, you did not send back. You still have the second product, which also belies your argument about her having your money. International fraud my ass. You can send the shit back for a refund.

And, yes, the AUD has fluctuated against the USD since then. If you are correct and this has taken 11 months, then that was back when the AUD was approximately $AUD1.50 = $USD1.00, which, yes, means that technically, the value you'd get back would be depreciated, but then, you should've thought of a refund a while back.

Those are your options. You can send back the current stand and get a new one or, you can send EVERYTHING back and get a refund for the comparable amount of the value of the AUD. I believe she has already offered to do both if you just send back the current stand.

Long story short; refund, replacement, or shut the fuck up, you have no meat to your whini-er, sorry, complaint, and it won't hold up with anyone official anywhere.
