treat latex like a mirror but only draw in the reflection of really bright things and light sources :)
Also in photoshop you can use blending modes on layers to change how they look. In this case I used overlay.

Hmm, I wonder if it would still work on Sai. I've never tried a more realistic rubber look, I always do cartoony, mostly cause I like it, but it would be nice to try something new.

So, you put the shine on overlay and used different shades, to make it shinier in the middle?

A gradiant? Hmmm, well, there's no gradiant tool in Sai. I could always try my rubber in photoshop though. Oh well, seems like I have a new project to do ^^

at first i thought you just used the dodge tool a bit but that many steps for shiny rubber? i think ill stick with markers
