advice: its really, really hard to price yourself. im told i should charge more but cant bring myself to do it.

also, apparently journals asking this never get a lot of comments. draw what you want to sell and in fucking rainbows write COMMISSIONS open on the top of your submission.

ie, draw an icon and title it ICON COMMISSIONS 5$ or whatever. then draw 1 or 2 samples of how you'd draw an icon. how you'd draw someone with like, a dog character or a horse, etc

Oh god, I'm thankful I even got THIS. I was thiking of cooking up some samples anyway. Icon's probably would be a good start, something small! But oh god, does it have to be rainbows? xD

A few things I've learned so you don't get screwed!

Get money upfront. Some people like to get 50% payment before they start and then get the last 50% before sending the finished image. Personally, I ask for 100% payment before I even start. Too many scammers, too much "wahh my dog ate my money! what crazy timing, eh!?" type excuses (aka whinier scammers).
Handle commissions over e-mail instead of FA notes/comments. FA goes down too much- too unreliable. :|
Save any references you're given so that you can still work on commissions even if the site or your internet connection goes kaput.

I've been on lurking around on Artists_beware (a place I hope to never get posted on! *3* ) enough to know that moneys up front = very good idea! I'd never even think of a 50% now, 50% later unless it was a substantial piece, thus, substantial price, and even then it'd be iffy. I got myself a new email just for handling these sorts of things, and with just the little sneaky freebies, I've been getting myself organised by saving refs into individual folders for individul people!

I'm still a bit stupid on Paypal, as I only just got an account, doooii, but I'm sure I'll figure it out! If not, I know who to bug ;D
