So, is the username yours when you click start?

If so, and it's vista, log off the machine, and log back in - hopefully, this should return your profile to the correct settings.

I've done that 3 times now.. And it keeps taking me back to default. :(

Ok, so your name is a different one huh? Then do this -

Go to start - control panel - user accounts

The account information you should see should be for the 'default' account you mention. Create a password for this account.

Also, click Manage another account, and put a password on your account - if you can see it there.

click the start circle, go to the small arrow icon and click log off

Once at the start up screen you should have the ability to pick your original account, and this default one. Click yours, put in your password, and log in.

If logging out or changing account settings doesn't work try doing a system restore. It will restore your system to a previous state without affecting any of your personal files.

To do this go to your Start - Control Panel - System - System Protection and click on the System Restore Button and choose a date when everything was working properly.

You're probably on a different account on the computer. Hit Start then Log Out and see if your regular account is there.

I know the one here in OKC specifically ALWAYS tells us we have to get a new motherboard, no matter what the problem seems to be. Others I know have had similar issues. I'm not saying the people don't know what they're doing, but that they're also out to get the most money they can. Their prices for simple things like diagnostics are horribly inflated too. Basically, Best Buy ate their souls.
