There's no way in hell I could ever afford a Wacom Cintiq, but what could I possibly do to get one?
The Cintiq is a twelve inch monitor/drawing tablet. You can draw directly on the screen as if it were some digital sketchbook. I do have a Wacom tablet, but having to draw with it can be a pain in the ass. You constantly want to tilt the pad as if you would a sketch pad, but it doesn't help, it's too hard working on screen.

No sense in spending hundreds of dollars on something you don't need, after all.
As for the larger tablet? The button placement was strange, and as I held onto the screen for stability I'd constantly be hitting the function buttons. I'd say it was interesting, but definitely not worth the price. 2k? Heck no. Wacom tablets are inexpensive enough that you could have one for each day of the week at this price.
I DO HAVE an interesting solution for you, however -Have you thought about buying a PC tablet? -it sounds nuts, but you can do it for less than $500. You're not going to get a powerhouse laptop pc or anything, but what you can have is a 12" monitor for with at least 200 levels of sensitivity. That's plenty unless you plan to repaint the mona lisa with Corel Painted XI -It works wonderfully with photoshop, and the rest.
I had recently looked into this for work, and found that most tablet PC's are around $2000 brand new. If you buy them used, you can save quite a bit. Follow this link:

The list price is only $410, BUT be sure to choose the "view anywhere" screen, which adds $59. I chose this option since I don't want to be fighting glare anywhere I go.
--Ram, is also important, but buy it here:

It's $16.99 here, versus the $69.99 through Gainsaver, it's very easy to install, also.
This device only has a 30 gb HDD, and it's Celeron processor is only 1.5ghz, but it's a fairly lightweight, portable device for OC sessions, and is powerful enough to run photoshop, or just about anything else you'd need.
Also, buying the protection plan's not a bad idea either, but that'll set you back between $40-$150.
As an option, screen protectors that last approx. a year can be bought here for about $13 apiece.

Well that's about it. Hopefully some of you can find this useful!
**** Wacom has removed the drivers for this from their webpage, but email me if you need those, I can certainly transfer the files to you.
