argh, I fail so hard at art sometimes.. sometimes I can't get one to draw me, so I try to draw myself.. but my art is horrible.
people here are pumping out quality pictures like almost every second day and it takes me relentless hours to finish just one. That discourages me. How my inking and coloring skills are so awful and the fact that it can be curbed with being taught properly seems to do it furthermore.
..I'm done bitching. >.<

I dont draw much, but I think a lot about what I draw and what Ive drawn before, analyzing the errors and looking at how to improve them.
this usually makes my pictures take ages, but I guess I put forth a decent quality.
now what really is said to help by many artists is: watch, and draw a lot. top concept artists spend 8 hours a day drawing, which is quite insane, but it shows that one needs to draw much in order to be really good.
anyways.. just draw whatever is in your mind, and dont worry about the quality, just work on. its hard, but it helps
Maybe I'm demanding instant gradification, but like I said in other posts, artistic morale is a bit low @.@
so just keep going, aury :3
It can take me a matter of fifteen minutes to come up with a presentable concept sketch... an hour start to finish to draw and fully color a phooki... three hours start to finish to draw a fully colored and shaded chracter piece entirely digitally... 8 hours start to finish to hand sketch, ink, scan and clean, color and detail a full commission page..
And it took me 25 or so years off and on of doodling, scribbling, working through library art books and purchased tutorials, tearing and ripping up sheets in frustration, smudging, destroying sketches with bad ink smears, destroying good inks with bad marker and coloring smears, embarrassment, ridicule, breakthroughs, and motivation to be able to do it.
It takes a TON of time to be able to train your hand to automatically learn where to draw, and even more tons of erasers to remove the mistakes because you never really get to a point where you're perfect at it.
Some artists can churn out good works on a regular basis. Most of those artists have put in years of practice in order to do it... and all of them have completely and utterly stunk at one time in their lives.
it can definately get discouraging if you're experienced.. its just really really hard to keep my inclination to draw when the majority out there is already better/more popular than myself. erf.
