So I got a Kindle...

We pen our fate to the parchment of time...
Yeah, I know. Trendy e-Reader, right?
I'd been wanting one for awhile. I was tied between B&E's The Nook, Amazon's Kindle, and now Apple's iPad. Honestly, it was a tough call. I do a lot of reading. I mean, I like reading talented people so I can mooch off their abilities. =P One day I'll be good, too!
The reason I decided against Apple's iPad was that it is really a giant iTouch. I wanted something I would READ with, and while the iPad does have iBooks, the potential to minimize the pages and watch a video, or play a game. Also I wasn't sure about the screen. The Kindle and the Nook use screens that resemble paper and as such put no strain on the eye. A full color screen (which would have finger print smudges all over it) didn't seem appealing.
As well, the Nook is having problems up the wazoo. I can't really find any saving grace for it. Yeah, sharing books between Nooks is awesome but I've never even SEEN a person with a Nook. Plus, publishers can decide if the book can be shared or not. The Nook and the iPad do use ePub file format, but Amazon will probably support it with a firmware update, so no big loss there.
Anyway, now that I'm done justifying my purchase, I do have to admit I like the damn thing. It's always connected to the net, it's responsive, I can put the PDF files I have for class readings on the thing, books are incredible on it. It's comfortable in my hands, etc.
I just wanted to share, and wondering if anyone else has one, or the other variations.
On a side note...
Four Moons 2 is almost done. Just a couple more scenes to do and then editing. Sorry this is taking so long. The Kindle isn't helping but the break is helping me in terms of refreshing my creative juices. =)

FA+

Just got back from Thailands today (business trip.. Really!!!) And I fortunate to finally see one of the EInk screens at Singapore
Definately
liked it.
As I professional programmer I have a lot of reference books and it can be a pain of lugging them around - plus assorted articles and code snippets. An EReader would be the perfect solution, plus having a spare memory card for (Ahem) stoires that I enjoy reading.
Still have not found one that I really like thou - The Kindle is too tied to Amazon, the Iliad is nice (A4) but pricy, and whatever one I pick must enable me t read an A4 page comfortably as well as have some sort of search functionaly.
On a different track - really looking forward to the next Jack series. I can understand why Arch puts up with him, Everyone bows down to Arch, gives in to Arch etc. That what the clan needs - however Arch's needs are someone who WILL stand up to him when he goes over the top. Plus gives him an understanding on how the lost wolves think and work now.
Take care..

P.S ohhh tibby and keto
By the way, it has this awesome silvery thing on the right side that scrolls up and down. How does that thing work!?
Hope you enjoy yours though!
Of course, it doesn't have the Wi-Fi connection to get new books or a touch screen; it does have an mp3 player for background music. So in a few areas, it cannot compare to those big-name brands. However, for now it's perfect for me. I already have about 600 books in PDF and Mobi format and around 3,600 psychology and philosophy papers/books/articles. So I have little need to shop for the moment.
I am jealous that I don't have a Kindle or Nook, but I'm happy with mine. If anyone wants a good, dependable and simple e-book reader but don't have a lot of money, I highly recommend the Libre. It costs $140 at Fry's and comes with a 2GB SD card loaded with 100 classic books.
On a side note, I've been converting the new moon series and storing it so I can read at work. =^/-\^=
Let me know how my series comes out on your eReader. =D I've been thinking about doing that and putting it on my own. Now if I could only write with the damn thing...
Take care and hope you are well..

I see you just POSTED the new story!
I totally missed this journal. :( But yes, Kindle. I think you made the more appropriate choice. paper-like screen and LONG ass battery life..... :)
