Try going into My Computer and adjusting the settings from there, if not...I think I can point you towards someone who I know is a technician and knows a lot about that. It could also be that you are missing some drivers for it, google that and see if you are...

OK I tried doing the 'My Computer' thing and its a no go :C no updates for the driver and it still wont show or connect on teh comp! I mean the softwear I get kinda recognizes it and it does kidna show on the comp as an external drive but thats all! It doesn't go beyond saying "Removable Drive F:" I think it wants to put a "uck you noob I aint workin for you!" in place of the colon :P I tried to adjust it in the properties but nothin happened o.o no updates no nothin :c <<--epic sadface is epic and sad! :P I had to use one of the spare USB cables I have since the cable that my gramps packed with the cam was one for his digi cam. He was kinda a dink when it came to small port thingies :P

now I'm stumped... :/

Did you do this?

Right Click on "My Computer" -> Select "Properties"

In the window that pops up, click the "Hardware" tab -> Click on the "Device Manager" button.

The Device Manager window should now open. You are looking for Yellow Question marks. These mean that there are things about the hardware on your computer that Windows has no idea how to manage. This can include the camera you are trying to connect.

Here's what I need to know:

What version of Windows are you using and what service pack are you on?
What kind of computer do you have? If it's a custom build, what model and brand of motherboard do you have?
Are there any yellow question marks in the device manager, and what do they say?
Did you download a driver direct from Sony SPECIFICALLY for that camera?

These should help resolve the issue.

I'm running Window's XP home edition onna dell laptop and nope no yellow question marks have shown to me in the device manager :/ I got the driver from the CD included in the small well stuffed satchel that remained behind after my grandfather went off to the hospital.
