Okay, this will be my first con to be actually SELLING stuff, so I want to know exactly how this whole sales-tax-taken-out thing at the con works. I want to make sure I get it done correctly; I don't want to fuck up.

Do you have a temp. Seller's permit? Does the con even require one? Cause I thought California is the only state so intent on taxing everything. Check the con's web page, if they require you to collect sales tax, they'll have instructions, otherwise don't worry about it.

They don't say anything beyond "Make sure you collect state sales tax" they don't say HOW to friggin do that, like, do I calculate a percentage of every item sold or soemthing?

I only sell at FC, so I really don't know what Texas cons are like on this. You'll have to ask someone who's done this con before. I just sell my stuff at normal prices and say tax is included, cause its easier to sell something for $5 than $5.17 or whatever.

well, no, I was going to mark things only to whole dollars and take the tax out of that, but I mean, is there a person there you go "here, my taxes" and hand them the money? I just don't get it. I'll find an FF alumni though.

If you get a seller permit they give you all the info for paying the tax. If you don't have/need one, then they'll never know anyway so you don't need to pay anything.
