My take on the movie as well as the ending to it SPOILER
Well that was one mind fucking-with movie for sure. Though I felt it was pretty good, sad in that way but pretty good. You can tell something was up with him for sure. Now, as for h his end, I am pretty sure it was deliberate on his part. With that die a good man or a monster thing. Oh he came out of his psycho for sure but he is going to put a end to himself before he can hurt anymore or lapse back in as Teddy.
