Alright.. In general, religion is silly to me. Christianity is the only one I can really speak much about, because it's the religion in which I was raised. I've since become enlightened.

I've read their silly bible book twice, and I've concluded that it's a poorly written, ancient work of fiction. There are some good stories in there, and there are some events which may have taken place. On the whole, though, the book has no firm ground upon which to stand and proclaim that it's true to the t, especially when there's plenty of science to disprove it.

The bible claims that the Earth, and in fact the entire Universe are only 6,000 some years old. Okay. Well, why are there stars out there that are billions of light years away? A light year is the distance light travels in one year. If these stars were billions of light years away, their light would not have reached us yet.

The bible claims that a man names Noah built a humongous boat, and managed to get two of every animal species on Earth to board it, and stay there for a full 40 days. How exactly did he manage that? He'd have had to have traveled to every continent on Earth, explored every jungle, forest, mountain, and dell for two of every animal species. And then he'd have to hope they wouldn't all suffer from inbreeding after that. And then this water comes our of nowhere and totally floods the Earth past the highest mountain (several thousand feet high), and then all that water just vanishes, and the animals all cross various oceans to go back to their respective habitats, all of which have no food or pure water, because it's all been ruined by this flood, where they somehow thrive and grow back to a healthy population. Riiiiiiiiight. Christians believe that this is true.

I don't see anything wrong with Christians as a people, besides that they place their faith in that book.. I imagine I'd get thrown in a loony bin if I swore by Moby Dick or Beowulf. That said, I do find it annoying that many of them are so quick to condemn some things as immoral and sinful based on what their holy book said, when they'll turn around and ignore other parts of it in the same breath. Did you know it's a sin to eat food that's more than three days old? It's also a sin to plow the corners of your field. You'll go straight to hell for that. Unless you accept a zombie lord as your savior. A zombie lord that can use magic!

Again, this is why the bible is a historical document.

However, they did find traces of a real ark which Noah built but it was not the humongous city on wheels as the bible says.

Number one.. A feat of the type the bible describes would take a person several months to just build it. Not to mention the fact that if you were to get two of everything you'd have to either be a holy immortal deity or own your own zoo which I seriously doubt Noah did unless historical facts back it up.

The bible has always been a historical documentation and yet it is so clouded over by the clouts who lie and cheat their way into making everybody believe it is fact.

What is fact is Noah had an ark but it was about as big as what you would see today unless he himself built something as big as what was said in the bible to what point he'd need as much help as possible to get it done.

As for the floods I have seen the Mississippi flood over several times and been in several floods but in all cases I have yet to see it rain for forty consecutive days and nights.

If it were to do that we as a people would be finished drown in feet of water. There is no way an Ark can withstand a powerful flood current.. I'm sorry but his ark would be reduced to rubble if a strong flood current caught it.

This again goes back to why the bible is a historical documentation. What is true has been uncovered by facts and true evidence and what has not is just a story passed down from generation to generation.

But please don't tell any Christian extremist that or you'll get hung or get rocks thrown at your head calling you an atheist hating sinner.

My point is, these Christian conservatives are the biggest bunch of hot air losers I've ever seen, I live in an area where they are the main majority and it shows everywhere I go.

These people are liars and closeted gays who are hypocritical until they get caught. They've taken over politics because Washington DC is too weak to see the liars it itself has become.

These people walk around here with a bible against their heart like it is some sort of a drug. When I was in college I actually was a part of one of those type of groups where they'd slam a bible against their heart like it was one of their kids.

Don't get me wrong that these people are really nice people to talk to or volunteer with but from my own experiences going to a Christian school and being part of a true Evangelical christian bible group in college I can tell you I'm really glad I was able to open my mind to the true facts behind the bible.

If you believe a historical documentation but then treat as if it were something it's not then shame on us as a society for letting the bullies who aren't real Christians take over what the authors didn't say was right.

There are way too many holes in the claims of today's bible to be really believable without going back and looking through the true history which has been uncovered.

No conservative whackjob wants to hear that what they are saying is bunch of hot air. I find really annoying when uber conservatism takes over an entire area because guys like me understand what conservatism does to an area. It keeps the young vibrant person as far away from it as possible while it attracts the baby poppers and the young families who can't control their kids.

See what I'm saying? Christianity is it's own worst enemy which is no better then politics or for that matter the very book which does not state what it truly is about.

I know some idiot Christians might think I'm atheist.. Well sorry guys... I'm not because I believe in Angels which are truly a believable thing. If I was a typical atheist I wouldn't be as open about this as I am now.

I base everything off of personal experiences and living in an area where it is a disease. People cannot handle the truth so they lie about it and then cloud kids with it which I think is as tacky as you can get,

But that's another time and another rant. So for now the point is, whether you are an atheist or whatnot the point is all of us know the stereotypes have been the death of this belief as a religion which actually is not a true religion because it was created by a bunch of bullies who said this was the way God himself said it so we're going to shove it down as many throats as we can.

There is no historical documentation in the history of man which is as clouded and fake as the bible is now. It's become a fake bunch of lies which in the long run is sad because if the authors were still alive today they'd go find all of these idiots and put them all in jail for destroying the true intent of their works they put into the bible.

Most of what I can say about this has been said before, and so I'll tip my hat and make this brief.

There's a right way and a wrong way to everything. As our dear OP said, extremist Christians are in his mind no better than extremist Muslims. While I don't think they're quite as bad, they're still terrible people, and they're doing it wrong.

In my life, I've been a furry, a biker, a gamer, a member of a fraternity, a Christian, a musician, a waiter, etcetera. I've seen in all of these groups I've been a part of have right way and a wrong way to do it. You can be a homophobic mealy-mouthed gamer who yells at his teammates' every mistake and quits if Red steals your flag just once. You can be a biker who goes out in shorts, a t-shirt, and a ball cap and ends up with a four foot patch of road rash on your back. You can be that musician that comes in way too loud and has nothing interesting to play; you can be that waiter who just gives the rote "m'kay, be right back" and takes twenty minutes to punch in the wrong order.

You can be a furry who... (list removed on account of time--author nor reader has five months for a solid block of infinitesimally small text)(hehehe :3).

Or a Christian who's done any or all of the above.

Now, I don't believe that Christianity is automatically bunk (as I've seen my mom do it right) (I am an agnostic), but I have from time to time thought that the condition that Christianity and many other religions are analagous to a forty year-old car that's been taken piss-poor care of; it's been driven to its limits and way beyond them, it's been abused, wrecked a few times, and nobody's bothered to check the oil or to see how the engine's running. That is, the state of Christianity among many, many churches (not all) is piteous. It should be put out of its misery and for those who still have interest, rebuilt from the ground up.

It all boils down to common sense. People of any group, when it comes to the gay marriage debate, need to keep their hands out of other peoples' business. Banning gay marriage for others is like...banning gays from chewing bubble gum. It's just invasive, insulting, and even a little bit puzzling as to how someone's gotten this aggressively proactive about somebody else's business. Let me chew my goddamn bubble gum.

There's homophobic bikers, homophobic frat boys and waiters and gamers and soforth. The problem with homophobic Christians is that they have a book they BELIEVE empowers them to act like total cuntbags. Killing in the name of something you've bent and twisted to fit your own desperate need for empowerment is a level of selfish depravity I can only fathom.

Same way with people insulting furry. My "furry" is just like my AppleJacks. What makes furry so special? I don't know. Then why am I one? Because I eat what I like.

I think what you and everybody else is saying is that we can be whoever we want as long as we don't chop down others with our hypocrisy.

That's the biggest thing I see with these so called "real" Christians who parade around here with a bible on their hearts shoving it in other people's face like you have to listen to us because we know all which is right.

Real Christians are those like what you see here who know who they are yet they can accept who they are and what they are into.

I was raised Lutheran according to what my family believed in. I was baptized a Lutheran when I was barely a year old and we went to church every single Sunday when times were good.

Back when I was a kid Church was not like it is today. You went with your family and friends to open your mind to the story of the bible as a documentation with great sayings to live by.

Church back when I was a young kid was more of we accept you for who you are regardless of what denomination you are.

Jump start a few years later and the entire thing of Church has changed because the hypocrites and bigots have come in and destroyed everything my ilk and those like me learned as a young kid.

We could go through all the reasons why we as a society choose the things we do but that would be way too general.

What is fact is the fact lies and hypocrisy rule us as a society starting with our churches and trickling down to our own values we keep as a country and people.

What makes all of us special is the fact we can accept each other for who we are because that's the way our fandom is. People give LGBT a hard time because it's no better then the religious organizations themselves. LGBT is no different then this either and we have our own stereotypes which bring down this but it doesn't seem to be as bad as LGBT.

No matter what you are into you're going to have the oddballs and screwball squirrels of the world who give it a bad name or are closeted about it.

That's just the way it is. I've been a part of several things in my lifetime and from each of them I take the things I learned and use them as ways for me to further develop as a free thinking mind.

Every hobby or thing will have a stereotype.. I'm sorry but you can't have one without the other. What kills a hobby makes it stronger when you realize if we didn't have idiots then things would be pretty boring around here. Idiots give us reasons to want to talk about things like this because they are what fuel our interest in a topic.

Think of all of the ChewFoxes of this fandom mixed into all hobbies and subjects. When you look at it that way you realize if an idiot didn't exist it wouldn't be worth our time to get together as a group to discuss it.
