I'd like to know where does one go, like a site or something. I don't know where to go to get started.

The best thing to do in my opinion is to look at other websites first. See what sort of thing you want to do with your site. Next you should probably look up some tutorials for HTML and CSS (I have a couple of books on it but there are quite a few sites with tutorials)

After that, you should do some sketches of how you want to lay out your site (Pages and how each page will link to one another)

Thanks a lot, good advice indeed. I think I have in mind what I want the site to look like and do. But I'll try some research. I thought there was a particular site or place to go to.

My biggest suggestion, and advice I can give, is to keep the design clean and simple. The faster it loads, the better luck you will have with visitors.

Using a wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) editor, like Adobe GoLive, can be helpful, but they often put in a lot of extra code you don't need.

You can search for tutorials online and get lots of advice.

Not necessarily. There are some free ones available. :)

Might i sujest rough sketching said Website, nothing fancy, just basic layout.

Unless you already have, that is.

First I would try to google Barebone's guide to html. It's pretty simple and it's what I have been using since 03'. From there just note me if you have any other questions.
