yes they did and we said yes. Everyone was soooooo happy with us, sooo many pictures taken with people

Heh. Awesome. Although I can predict some awkward future for those folks showing pictures from the olympics to friends and stuff, "And here we are with a group of mascots for the Canadian team!" "Ummm... I don't think countries have mascots."
Regardless you guys probably made a bunch of people smile, as well as had a fun time yourself. That's all that really matters!
