Computer Issues, yay

General
So, my laptop is kinda fucked in ways that ARE reversible, I just need to reverse them. But until then (dunno when) I have no computer of my own and digital commissions might be slower, and I'm IMMENSELY sorry. I will not screw over any of you and I will finish your stuff, I swear.
FA+

My laptop's battery started going bonkers, and eventually shorted out, bought a new one, but it was a defect and when I tried to turn it on by battery power alone it shorted and fried my HD and motherboard, so that got trashed.
The fan on my desktop's psu shorted out, and the DVD drive is dead from my brother putting in a near-frozen CD straight from his car one morning into the drive, and after about 2 minutes the CD exploded with shrapnel buffeting the inside of teh drive. And now windows is corrupt, and refuses to go to the startup menu so that I can reinstall.
Yay technology!
Good luck, bro. Take your time.
Boot another Operating System from your CD drive!
"Linux Live CDs" are the most common. and they're free :D
I just tried Fedora the other day (fedoraproject.org)
It's slow because it runs from CD instead of from hard drive and You won't be able to use Photoshop.
But you'll be able to browse the internet, chat and access your hard drive all without installing anything on the computer.
Wanna try it?
1. Download a Linux live ISO file
2. Burn ISO file to a CD on Lillie's comp
3. Put CD in your dead computer
4....
5. Profit!
Possible issues:
-Can't burn an ISO? I'll try to help you find a free program or just send you a burnt disk
-You have to get the disk in the computer before it boots to Windows. Try holding down F8 after you power up to get to the boot options, then put the disk in the drive and reboot. This could get pretty tricky. Call me if you like
See if your mom will give you 99 cents to buy a refurbished laptop on eBay.
