Here's my review of the zombie shooter game House of the Dead: Overkill for the Nintendo Wii, enjoy.
Story:
The game is actually a prequel to the House of the Dead games.
You play as a young Agent G who's just completed his AMS training and has been assigned his first mission, take out the madman Papa Caesar who's been raising the dead with the reluctant help of a crippled young scientist, the young researcher's name is Jaspar.
When Agent G arrives at Papa Caesar's mansion, he encounters a foul mouthed detective by the name of Isaac Washington who is also after Papa Caesar, but for more personal reasons.
Agent G and Washington are not really coming along with each other, but they quickly find out that they have no other option then to work together to stop Papa Caesar from unleashing the undead on the whole world before its too late.
The story is a bit like one of those old 80's or 70's horror zombie movies and its quite corny, but thats what makes it great.
I give it 9/10.
Graphics:
The graphics are quite nice for being a Nintendo Wii game.
The character's facial animation are really nice and the zombies look nice as well.
And of course, there is plenty of gore here so there will be alot of blood and such flying all over the place.
Headstrong did a really nice job on using the power of the Nintendo Wii here and let us hope they keep up the good work.
I give the graphics 9/10
Gameplay:
The game plays out like any of the other House of the Dead games, you shoot zombies and save civilians from them and also find medikits or bonus items lying around, there are also power ups that slow down time or
You start the game with a pistol, but after you complete the first stage, you are given the option to visit a gun store to buy or upgrade weapons before a stage.
If you manage to kill 6 zombies without missing, you get a combo, the first one is called extreme violence, you score more points this way.
When you encounter the bosses, an info screen pops up with a picture of the boss, the name and also where that boss' weak points are.
There are also bonus unlockables, some of them have requirements like shooting 70 zombies in the leg in a stage and more.
The gameplay makes the game really fun to play and will keep you coming back for more and more, even when you have completed the game.
I give it 10/10
Audio:
The music in the game is just plain awesome.
Its got this beat that makes you just wanna drop the Wii Remote and play air guitar, its that awesome.
The voice acting is great too, especially the voice actors for Agent G and Washington.
The game even has a Grindhouse like narrator, who is apparently the same guy who narrated in the famous Grindhouse movie by Quentin Tarantino, who does a great job at making this feel like a corny yet awesome movie.
I give the voice acting 10/10
House of the Dead: Overkill is a really worthy entry in the House of the Dead game series.
The game does have a lot of profanity, but thats what makes people play and like it, this even gave the game a place in the Guiness World Record book for being the most profane game in history.
This game gets a 10/10 from me, I highly recommend this Nintendo Wii exclusive game if you enjoy shooting zombies and 80's movies.
