4 more weeks of work...

... I guess that's better than the groundhog saying 4 more weeks of winter...
(below copied from my LJ post, if you saw that, you can skip this.)
So, I got an interesting phone call today. Aparently, they laid off my entire team prematurely. They still need us. But, only temporarily? The recruitment guy told me that they would like me to come back for the same rate of pay for 4 additional weeks as an in-house temp.
I checked with the unemployment people and found that if I turn down available work, I will loose my unemployment. So, no matter how I feel about the place that got rid of me for no reason, I get to go back for 4 weeks. I guess this is both good and bad. I will be getting somewhat more than unemployment but I have to go back there. I do know it's only 'temporary' so i'm not going to have constant stress of being laid off, I know it will be happening in 4 weeks for sure.
The guy from unemployment told me that my 'claim' is good for 1 year so I have already had my 1 unpaid 'waiting' week last week. So, when i'm done again with my next 4 weeks, I go back on unemployment with no wait. I gues that's acceptable. Plus, I will have some extra $$ which I plan to save in case of emergencies or problems.
I kind of feel both good and bad about this. I do want work and I want to make the same amount or more than I was. However, I wanted to just go to a permanent job, no temp stuff. The good part is that I don't think that they will reinstate my health insurance and such for the one month period so my pay checks will likely be a but larger than they were because I will not have all that other stuff taken out.
Anyway, this could be better but it could be worse. Plus, taking this 4-week temp thing could still possibly result in me working full time again ther, but I would not count on it.

Well, see how it goes and hope for the best. while working look around for other jobs like before and if nothing comes up unemployment will get you by after the 4weeks

OP
that's what i'm thinking. i filled out the paperwork and i'm waiting for them to get the result of my background check and then they should contact me again. I guess it's polocy to require a new background check in case i did something aweful bad while I worked for them for the past 3 1/2 years.
