I really don't know, honestly. I've just been seeing an uprise in "nominate me!" posts and twitters and wanted to sort of lay down the law early...I don't want people wasting their time if I'm just going to decline the nomination anyway.

Did you email the tourney organisers and say that you don't want to be in the tourney?

I wouldn't know where to begin. I don't know where it's being hosted...like I said above, I'm just going by other people's twitters and journals hearing about this year's process.

There's an email address on there that you can send a quick note saying that you'd rather not have your suit in the tourney. (I opted out too, one of my suits usually gets knocked out in the first round, and the other actually went pretty far, but he's had his time in the limelight. :) )

Blanko gets drawn up against someone, this person then proceeds to draw porn of his character and mine (without my permission of course), with mine bent over a ballot box getting well and truly done up the back passage, in order to get people to vote for him, and then posts it to the Live Journal community.

Was not at all pleased.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. I wouldn't blame the contest directly for that...just the bad apples that seem to enjoy the competition.

Hope that person apologized and pulled the art.

I'm not the sort who usually votes in these things, anyway; awards of any kind strike me as just being one big wanking contest.

Judging by what I've seen of you in vids and such though (given that I'll probably never meet you face-to-face), your performances as Duncan are always fun. I judge each suit and performer individually; I don't need awards to tell me who to like.

I wouldn't mind wearing a fursuit let alone being nominated for one XD

It's been interesting to see all the backlash against that thing. But as for it being a dramabomb, well, look at who's running it and that pretty much sums up that and everything else you need to know about it.

Inre: prettier fursuits, consider this: not everyone sees "newer" as better. I like a fursuit that was a true creative work of art, made for a person by someone who knows them, rather than a commercial, thousand-dollar subcultural status symbol that some of the "big names" churn out these days. I'd rather see someone running around in a fursuit who really couldn't afford to spend that money, but somehow saved up enough and wanted it bad enough to make it happen...rather than some 19-year-old douche who spent $2,000 of his parents' money for a fetish costume. (Not that I condemn fursuit sex if that's your thing)

I can't wait to get my fursuit, hopefully I'll get mine before the Midwest FurFest comes.

yes I find this fursuit thing rather uncomfortable... fine if you make the suits and you are crowned best fursuit designer/builder. But nominating a world's number 1 fursuit is like saying what is the greatest song in the world, or what is the best piece of classical art.

I think it's a bit of an ego trip.

Suiting isn't about popularity and who is "the best" Everyone who enjoys suiting is good at it in their own way.

Some suits are designed to be worn with dignity and class, others are designed to be worn with goofiness and silly antics, and others are meant to be fap material (which i personally don't approve of >_>... but, that's just my personal opinion)

So i mean, to pit the Classy, Silly, and Sexy suits all against each other just seems kind of stupid anyways, and as someone said above it would just lead to Drama. It'd be like pitting Dogs against Cats and Birds and Horses for "Best Pet" category. Each animal has it's own special characteristics, but aren't really fit to compete in the same category against each other.

But yeah. Popularity contests = not a good idea. Everyone should just enjoy the opportunity to be their character when they suit :P I do!

Only if my nomination exists. I'm hoping I don't have to go through the effort of declining to the people running it. As long as I don't get a nomination, I'm good.

I'm sure the competition would judge on plenty of things that aren't included in why your suit is so awesome. There are all sorts of awesome, but competitions will always lean toward one or two specific kinds. Hearing that it's not (x) type of awesome doesn't help at all. If there's a cash prize involved, I'd personally try for that(that's just me), but if not, then the compliments on FA are worth more than several ribbons.
It seems you already know your suit is awesome, so this sounds like a good choice.

I acctually nominated a friends suit last year.

The only problem.... He's from Japan. Has never attened an american/australian/uk furcon.

Needless to say he got knocked out in the first round and took it pretty hard. Hopefully after the full on year of me explaining to him it was just a contest that means nothign to anyone with a brain he understands that it was not a reflection of him in the fandom as a whole.
