Is This Fursona Theft?

Hey guys,
Having a bit of trouble with a user on FA and I don't know what to do... a little help/advice would be appreciated.

This artist http://www.furaffinity.net/user/masterwindragon/ recently put up a pic http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3559348/ and it looks a lot like

adensilverflame's icon/fursona. The artist says he's never seen Aden's fursona but as you can see the pic looks nearly identical to the icon and his fursona. (Another pic of Aden's fursona here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1941490/)

He says his fursona is coloured differently but only one of his pics and his icon are in colour so you really can't tell.

Please advise? (Also I'm posting this in my journal instead of Aden posting it in his because I have more watchers)

Hmmm.. its somewhat identical. But that it would be saying that all the Furries stole the first "Wolf" or "Fox" etc. But then the colours are different.. *Shrug* I wouldn't say so, I suppose at the end of the day its just personal opinion.

Agreed with Anubis I say it is more personal opinion cause there a tons of foxes out there like my fursona I happen to come across and theres loads of wolves out there who are almost identical to my hubby's fursona but theres normal at little something small that separates them all in one form or another

To be honest, both characters look generic to me, and argument about them looking similar has almost no grounds :/

I don't know how to respond Risu. It does look really similar except for the color, and in the sketch that distinguishment disappears. While I think its super close I kinda have to agree with the others. Honestly, I think original creatures are almost running out for certain species. I mean, I would be pissed to see other squirrels pretty close to mine popping up, but there are some pretty close. I dunno, I would just feel proud knowing I was the first, and would only work harder to make myself more known to people as the other person is not even an issue. Just my two cents.

I'd agree with the posters above. can't really say to much on it unless it was colored perhaps and then there might be a case, but i've seen several dragon characters out there especially in anime's that look like that. and being its an in general dragon design and an in general eye marking not much could be said i think.

I say no on theft. Dragons with scars are not one of a kind.

Yeah, I'n sorry, but I'm going to have to with the argument that people have been giving bad-ass dragons bad-ass scars for a long time.

I was going to disagree with everyone but I think after looking at the two a few times I'm going with: there are enough differences. It's really just the scar over the left eye that's really thefty looking. But I suppose it's just a coincidence. Every one wants one eye almost slicced out I guess...?

*pokes a finger up* I have to agree with them all, too. It'd be nice if everyone was perfectly unique, but in the end a lot of brilliant ideas have already been thought up. Thinking them up again doesn't make them lesser ideas. Looking at the drawings, I can hardly say it's a blatant rip off; it looks more like coincidence. And the scar over the eye thing- I see that a whole lot, especially on scalies. It's neat and rugged looking, but not unique. Aden's got a nicely designed character. Someone else sporting a similar look doesn't change that. <3

I would say probably not theft. It does look similar, but there are others that also look similar. There are allot of fursonas that have scars, and that scar is the only thing I can say that most dragons don't have.

I think he may have been trying a style he liked to learn how do do his character better. I agree that it's not quite his normal style, but all artists try out things they like. For instance, THIS picture of mine: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1938526/ was inspired by THIS one of Balaa's: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1900931/

But when I look at his other (less polished) pictures, it's clear that he has some sort of character concept --a humanoid dragon with a scar or paint stripe across the eye and a "punk-ish" mane. It's kind of like a "lab rat in a lab coat"... interesting but not an earth-shatteringly unique concept.

they are very similar... personally I'd lean towards benefit of the doubt, but then if it is 'sona theft, if anything Aden should be flattered since someone thought it was better than something they could come up with themselves
