Re-selling old commissions- Right or wrong??

Alright, so I've completed a fair few commissions which have never been paid for, but HAVE been completed and given to the buyer.
Now, a few years later I have tried and tried again to contact these people for my money, with no luck. I have pretty much just passed these old commissions off as a case of "take-and-run". It really shits me off.
So, my question is... Is it ok to re-sell them, then replace the original commission with the markings from the new character?
I wont be doing this any time soon, but I figured it would be something for me to consider in the future.

No, no, no. I'd definitely make it clear that I was re-visiting an old commission.
I did this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1678723/ a few years back and never got the money for it.. which sucks, because its one of my favorite pieces and one of my most popular since I joined.
Also, I'm just wondering what you would think of this other situation I had a while back
I paid for a small commission from a friend ages ago, but we had a falling out. I have asked for a refund but I've been blocked from most of her pages, or ignored, or she has just left the account. Its been around 8 months since then without a work and I don't think she has any intention to return the money (She has a reputation for this kind of thing).
Would it be fair of me to take some of the giftart I have done for her and sell it to pay off the money that she owes me?
and thats a complicated issue. on one hand since it is her character and it is labeled as gift art, she has some right to it, but on the other hand since you are the creator of said gift art, you have your rights as well, but since it was a free gift, you have the right to take it back.
hmmm....I would have to consort with this livejournal group im in called "artist beware" its a group that helps consumers and artists alike, watch out for bad customers/artists.

SO re-do them. You have a right to your hard work AND money :)
That image you linked to somebody above is gorgeous, there'd definitely be people interested.
And to Hydrassas, if she changes the markings and general appearance, the things that really MAKE it the person's character then they no longer have any rights, especially since it wasn't paid for.
