Ok so I see a lot of people were interested in getting a card xD I drew up 4 last night, got one fully colored. I screwed up the rest of my cards because I was just like FUCK DRAWING REALLY TINY SUCKS so I had to get used to it. But now I am, so I'm going to go get more after class..I only had 10 cards.
They're really fun though c8 I'll definitely be doing more so I can have plenty of examples! Feel free to keep posting on that journal though, I'd like to get a variety of characters going on instead of just..one of the same thing if you know what I mean. Canines are great, but when I get to draw something else for once it's really refreshing and keeps me from getting burned out. |D
Also how much do these things usually sell for? 0: I have no idea how to price mine, my roommate was telling me if I'm going to spend forever on one I should charge a bit. Seriously, she got like..8 done and I was still working on the one I was rendering out in watercolors jlgsdf. I might have to stick with flat colors or try coloring these with my prismas U: Price ideas, I need them.

FA+

I don't think I have time to do that many xD; Maybe 20 at the most..
But the cards are about the size of pokemon cards, but with wider proportions? I'll have to check the package. I was gonna get these things laminated too.
It doesn't take me very long to draw them and ink them up, but coloring them takes a while if I throw in shading, which is why I might have to stick to flat colors.
Honestly yes, full sketches would be quicker, those were gonna be an option as well there. 0: I was thinking about doing a sketchbook raffle too.
but if colored sketches are easier to do then up the prices of the aceo but still keep it based on that
Also, if you are having troubles "working small," see about getting a pad of a similar paper, map out some of the squares, and work on the big sheet all at once. I found this helps me; I have a hard time working in the confines of a small piece of paper but a large page of cardstock, broken down into smaller size "canvases" works very well for me. I can still DRAW small but I don't feel like I have to WORK small. If that makes any sense. :3
That's a great idea :D Thank you! I'll try doing that sometime.
If really small, I'd suggest maybe starting at 5 dollars for simple characters, and work your way up?
I was gonna charge maybe $5 for just sketch/ink cards since they only take me a minute to do. Color takes me a minute, so I may charge more for those, but not too much. Maybe $10-$15.
but yeah...what size are they? and how long are they taking ya? i feel you on that. i work VERY small and standard 3x4 badges take me ages. if you do plan on investing a lot of time into each [versus some quick and a little more gestural] then price accordingly. don't sell yourself short! to save yourself some hassle though it might be good to come up with a faster alternative you know? GOOD LUCK!
Uhhh the size of the ones I have right now are apparently 2.5 by 3.5, according to the package. Drawing on them doesn't take very long, and so doesn't the inking. It's just..coloring them that takes forever. I think spent a good 2 hours or so on the one I colored.
I'm about to head out to the store again though to see if they have any bigger cards, that and I need a white gel pen....
The gestural thing sounds like a good idea, I'll try doing a few of those. That or I'll just try out a few different techniques to see which is faster. Thanks!
i do mine for $10-$15 but i'm told i undercharge.
for you? i would start at $20 at the very least
well, there is always some dickhead out there who will tell you your prices are too expensive. i've heard it a few times meself, and it hurts, but. then you remember that some people can't factor in the time and skill it takes to do something like this, and the supplies you factor in, etc etc
so if someone tells you that, you can tell them to kiss your ass. other people will always be there to appreciate the value of your artwork
/rant
and btw, those little cards fit perfectly into the badge holders you can buy at walmart. i use the smooth bristol version of those for my smaller badges.
It takes a while to find the right niche but all you can do is try & learn from it...
and lower them if pipples are like 'ohthatsnice...'
maybe $5 for very simple characters and 10-15 for medium, then maybe 20-25 for something difficult
hope dis be helpfool
I did one to trade but no one ever was available to trade with at the time XD
Then I kinda got busy and coudn't do anymore :C
