UGH. Work is being... evil! I requested time off to pack a ton of my shit, see my family/hang out with my sister (she is moving to Alaska, I hate herrrr!), chill with my sister-in-law and have a yard sale... and it got denied. Groovy, you just let me know 3 days before my s.i.l's flight and I have to go pick her up. How the shit am I gonna do that if I'm doing stupid shit at a cash register?! Hubby can't go pick her up, either!
Why can't we hire anymore people? To be as busy as Wally Word and only have four people on the floor and ONE cashier... oh my gosh. I haven't been able to leave work on time at all lately! The bosses don't do squat either, they just strut around like proud roosters and sit in their offices. God forbid if you try to get your work done instead of back-up cashiering, they'll get out of their office, walk past the busy registers, find you and yell at you.
I got half a mind to tell them I quit, pick up a few commissions, then go back to work after stuff settles back down. I have enough in the savings to keep my shit afloat for a little, and like I said, I could take a few commisshies, but I dunno.
If I made more, I'd take the bullshit, but I only make 80 cents more than minimum wage...

That's what I've been trying to do, ahah! XD
.... Which meant so few hours *scheduled*. Meaning if they needed, say, at least 10 people on duty for the 12-6 hours on a weekend, they'd schedule 4-6, then try and call others in. Every, fucking, day. And they'd rarely get enough people able to just drop everything and come in, so we were always understaffed and overworked.
I actually got yelled at one time because I didn't answer a call to come up to the registers. I looked him dead in the eye and said "I was the only one in the ENTIRE HARDLINES (that is, non-clothes) HALF OF THE STORE besides the guy in the electronics booth! I had no less than THREE people asking me for help at any given time! What did you want me to do, say to them all 'I'm sorry everyone, I can't get you what it is you actually WANT to buy, because I have to go take money from OTHER folks!'?"
How long ago did you work here?
If you can go after your dream, go for it. I went to study art after a year in that job. I want to work with art and teach others about art, so I will work to make it happen.
