If it's not mostly human, they don't like it...[short rant]

So I went to my character illustration class with my picture of Sev and his story all ready to wow the class... Unfortunately, they STILL don't respond well to ideas involving something other than humans, especially when the art isn't that of one of their friends... Once we put all our pictures up, I looked across the board and saw that all of them except mine, my roommate's and this other kid's pictures were human. I mean, someone even went to far as to not make up their own character and use ROBIN HOOD instead... Granted, the picture was nice, but c'mon, the class is centered around character design and development... He does the best 3D models I've ever seen, but would it kill him to at least be a little original? He was in the class before and he did Peter Pan... This other chick wants to combine fucking HARRY POTTER with Lord of the Rings in what will undoubtedly be the worst bastard-child story I've ever watched develop. It is truly sad that this is what our generation has to offer as far as creativity...I really just don't understand it.

but.......I think its cuz of these shows that are all reality TV and stuff that these kids like these days, or some of thos enot so original shows. Like, if you think down to Avatar's storyline, that really wasn't all that original (I REALLY hope nobody knocks me for saying something like that, cuz I know alot of people like it, but forget the graphics here, storyline is the keypoint im pointing out). Sure, alot of things are already used today, so its hard to claim something original, but at least try to make it seem liek you tried, right?
and if the guy can do awsome 3D models, usually people who are into those sorts of things have a REALLY great sense of creativity, as said by my friend I went to college with.
For me though, when it comes to the human art. Isn't art in itself about creativity? so shouldn't these people be more open to the fact that not everything will be stuck to their rigid mindset of what art SHOULD be, instead of what it COULD be?
just my 2 cents on the topic, cuz when it comes to creativity, and open-ness, like the course makes me think (I've never taken a course like that before, so im not sure what is required of it or whatnot), it seems to be quite the opposite of what you'd expect.
Maybe their people that thought it would be an easy credit or soemthing to join then. I remember in highschool, everyone in the class was confined to their little groups, and nobody really gave advice on how to improve soemthing unless they were forced to, or if they decided to smoke something before class to make it more interesting >>
and ya, if I was in a class, and people were like that, I'd more and more not wanna try to get to know them and be their friends as well, cuz, these sorts of classes are where alot of people with creativity would love it, and they could let it fly and show things off like that, but if these guys are being lazy or whatnot, their not being really serious about the course or work.
And breaking stereotypes with characters is always a fun thing to try. I unfortunatly can't really do that, cuz I don't have the creativity for it, but its definatly something some people should try out. So good on you for being able to try that and making it work ^^
Morons, all of them.
