The trick to WoW is something not one single powergamer grasps....

You're not SUPPOSED to reach max level!

As soon as you get to max level... the game is basically over. I have right now 9 chars on three servers, and I still enjoy playing the game. I experimented with the different classes and starting places, and there is enough in that to keep me happy.

As for the problem with all the losers playing WoW nowadays? The people who 'know someone in the business' and are either too bored to try to enjoy the game anymore, or have been high level so long that, restarting from scratch, they forget what it was like way back when, playing in friendly groups? It's simply a matter of going one group at a time, and adding those good players you can still meet to your social list. Once you get enough going... start a guild with them in it, and build on it by adding more of the same people.

I started in the Dreanor server, and the guild I ended up in was 'For the Horde'. It started from just ten friends; people who had met in game and enjoyed adventuring together; and ended at over 600 members... more than 2/3rds of the total horde players in the server! So yes, there is a way to get around the asses on WoW; build a group of in game friends and play with them.

Right now, I get random, unasked invited to guilds and turn them all down; why would you invite someone to your guild when you don't even know who they are? I'm trying to get to the point with all my chars of being able to help other guild members raise levels and such, not just be a drain on the guild.

I'm NOT advocating shutting people outside of your friend's list or guild out though. A lot of the people playing WoW ARE assholes... But some of those people can be taught by example. ...Not MANY, but still. Be nice to people you don't even know in there, and they just might turn out to be worth the kindness.

The whole problem with WoW is that the older people who play have other obligations; work, home and family, friends to hang out with and places to go. The ones who are online all the time... and thus tend to be the ones you meet all the time... are the brats with nothing to do, no friends and no social skills, who figure that after buying the game for $50+, they might as well pay ANOTHER $150 to get powerleveled, then lord it over everyone else, or the people with too much money and no willpower, who play 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to get to the ultimate level... and grind and grind and grind for that one ring or one piece of armor so they can finally... grind some more. :P

Also, what's tweaking my spice weasel right now is that there seems to be a fuckton of spam advertisements for free gold... I get so many lately that I see more purple whispers than I do anything else... including combat chat! >_<

Consider playing another class, or another side, maybe, and just look to make friends. Don't team with the wrong people... maybe straight out ask if they have another char, and if its on the other side ( I had this one guy talking in chat who had a lvl 70 Alliance char go on a spaztronic freakout over general, flooding the chat with "Alliance Rules... Horde sucks 4 ever" for over an hour after talking to people in that area for a while. :P ) Anyone who's coming down from a high level char feels they know everything, can do anything, and somehow can beat anything, because they DID IT ALREADY... Even when they didn't. Look for the truly new players, and you'll probably find a few good ones. And yes, I hate to say it, but... looking for the MATURE ones is probably better too, and I'm not talking about age.

SpamSentry or WURGS takes out the spam pretty damned fast. SpamSentry lets you report them all, but it does kinda spam you when you're spammed still. WURGS I believe doesn't do that.

You know, i just got the game recently, and i pretty much understand what you mean already, i don´t now if helps, but really, every OL game is filled with the same kind of people, especially the most famous ones ( just look at RO...eww ), even Lost Planet is getting a good bunch of people like that, and man, wasn´t that a "new" game?.

I'll play because some of my most cherished friends do, and like you, i like to play with friends ( i also enjoy my solo times, but being with others is the best ), so the best tip was given by Dracos Blackwing there, look for friends, and nice people, and just try to enjoy your time with them, that´s pretty much the real charm of OL games in my humble opinion.

i'v hated WoW sicne day one... because even with only playing it for a couple weeks, i could see that as being the reason i would eventually quit.. the community either speaks no english, or they speek leet ONLY... and all of them call you a fag noob no matter what you do >.> i figure if i want to play with kids, i'll find michael jackson and hang with him... but i'd rather play with smart, educated, and older players who aren't retards...
sadly i have yet to find them.

Personally, a friend and i are developing a game for the MMO universe that i hope will some day be playable and very much liked.. but that's a good ways away still (maybe 10 years... maybe).

I started WoW, got a character to level 22 or so within a month, immediately got bored with it and stopped.

WoW doesn't hold my attention like EQ does. Then again, I haven't played EQ lately because I have no way of paying for it. x_x

Huzzah for EQ! (42 Drakkin Monk, green and black ^..^ Chemikal Attraction, and 56 VAH BST Ivonnah Yiff, Nameless server) I've played EQ for....5 years. And that's as far as I've ever made it. EVERYTHING in EQ is still new to me, after 5 years....I some times just go and find reasonable level zones and esplore cause I ain't never looked at em.....I didn't get fimmilar with Warsilk Woods till I had to get Ikky faction...and I played an Ikky for...along time (Ikky monk, Lizmandu Kungfuu)

My first character was an Iksar, which is where this account name came from.

My second character was Zepel, who is now a level 58 Vah Shir Warrioress.

All of my characters are on The Rathe (Karana) server.

Last time I played, I had Zepel get high faction with the Iksars via Explorer Knives in the Lake of Ill Omen. Shortly after, I had a screenshot of her sitting down beside the Monk guildmaster as a show of triumph. XD

Yer feeling how I feel most of the time. If my friend's Ally or Danny arent on, I'm just like screw this shit. I spent four days of my already pathetic life tryin to group for Sunken Temple but these little 4 year olds on the Aliiance side had to "go to bed cuz they got school in the morning".

Though really that dosn't mean I don't like the game, I still have some fun with it. But yeah, you've inspired me to rant myself. lol. I think I'mma do that some time about WoW.

Just need a group of people who you can play games with as a whole, not just WoW. That's how many things work.

WoW has a dreadful amount of design flaws and balance issues.. and WoW's Dev team is doing a horrible job, they seem to follow the "it's not a bug, it's a feature!" concept.

I came back for BC actually, and those 10 levels were the best time I've ever had in WoW :3 and then I hit 70.. and things got pretty dull. I'm playing only 'cause my friends play, and I'm just waiting for a good reason to quit WoW and move to another game.. Warhammer Online: Age Of Reckoning looks promising, I used to play the tabletop game. ^^

And yes, I think the friendly helpful players from the good ol' days are a dying kind, there clearly ain't many of us left.. all I see is idiots idiots and greedy assholes everywhere >_>;

Toy stores have always been selling all kinds of games so I don't really think that makes so much of a difference.. I recall I bought my FFXI at Lekplaneten XD;

I blame that the game is way too easy to play and get into, and it requries almost no strategic skill since the talent specs and the equipment doesn't offer many strategic choices. The game pretty much says "you play like this, or like this" and if you don't, you end up with a not-so-good character.. :/

Tried Guild Wars sometime btw? There the strategic choices are overwhelming, I wish WoW was more like that xD

I like strategygames but I doubt I would get into Guild Wars. Of course, never say never... I know I enjoyed C&C. Even if most of it's online play got ruined to people constantly creating "boosted" maps, thus adding no challenge...

No 12-year olds would play the game if it was too complex for them, unfortunately Blizz designed it so it could be played by ANYONE. >_<

Yes... "played", but not properly. Thus ruining it for everyone who actually play it properly. *sighs* It's common to see people with fawked up gear and who can barerly use the class' abilities. I have seen Warriors just letting the sword smash and not even use Heroic Strike, or even any shouts! Scary...

Ye, it's easy enough to get through even if you can't play properly.. even though you will most likely have some more trouble here and there. But they can still get to 60-70 without having a clue how to play their class properly, and it honestly shouldn't be possible IMO :/

If the game got harder the further you got into it, in other words higher lvl, it would take you to really master a class to be able to get it NEAR 70, and it would still be a tough challenge after that!
Now that's an interesting mechanic, I want to see a MMO working that way. :3

IAWTC. Even if said Warriors I've met almost die after each mob, they CAN take themselves to level 70. And that is sad. They should make it more difficult as it goes! Of course, I doubt said Warriors I've mentioned survive in Outland well X] Even if you play well Outland is hostile at first. But then again, Warrior is a shitty class.

Same thing happened on the other games from blizzard.
I mean, hell, even the strategy games have turned into some kind of "massive brawl in the map's middle, kill everyone"-fest.

WoW isn't all bad... it has it's moments... can't think of any right now though.
The one major thing that buged me about this game is there is no plot. you just randomly run around, solve other peoples bitchey little problems and try to make a name for yourself, in a world where everyone is trying to do the exact same thing.
I'm not asking for cut scenes or anything just that the quests tie in to some grand plot that you picked out when you set up your char.

I heard Eve has a more adult audience and is more of a true player versus player game. Maybe you should try it sometime if you want more interactive play. I heard it's a very hard game though...steep learning curve. Oh well. MMORPGs used to be all popular...but it is getting old lately.

I gave up on WoW a while ago.. for the third time. I can safely say i'll likely never go back.. the people who i played with the third time kinda abandoned me, i have no reason to go back anymore.

Anyway.. the way I see WoW is that its where all the worst players of all games went these days. The more decent players have mostly left now.

I'm considering going back to EQ2 now that WoW has attracted all the lamer players.

They have lizards + mice + frog player races! :3 (the mice go nyu when they jump XD )

Yeah i never bothered with WoW, it seemed obvious it would eventually reach a point where you just cant go any further and when EVERYONE who cracks out on that game reaches that point whats left?

I played WoW for 3 years... was fun... then it got so boring with Bliz's rep grinding idea to solve everything plus a bunch of other issues that the game holds that they neglect to ever fix.

Blagh, I hate WoW with a passion. Any game that has you killing dragons as a side-quest (Onyxia, my heart goes out to you) is definitely not okay by me.

So far, the game is not boring me actually. I am happy on my RP-server, where I meet SO much mature RPers and players. But sadly, there are lolkids on it too. People who do not speak English, who grief, who scream FU HOMOFUKK I QYUIT THIS GROOP IT SUX, and are all a bunch of 12-year old pricks who "couldnt get on sry mummy grounded me", etc.

Lucky I have SO many friends who play it and help me out. So I am content, still. I say you are in a very sad situation :<

If not for the guild I am in and my boyfreind i would have quit the game a year ago due to so many max lvled people ganking me when i am 20+ lvls lower. I tried alli but got bored cause only a few werent acting like vane children who like to make it hard to have fun for others no matter what faction on my server. Everynow and then you can meet some cool people and have fun though. (I'm horde now as you can see from my gallery :P)

lol I closely experieced that myself as well, but what keeps me playing atm is my younger bro who will always be playing with me no matter what. I some friends still playing so its still good for me. Got pretty bored at some times.
