saw it in furst release when i was living in portland in the 80s.
before the movie was the 'zene, that had a lot of trippy stuff in it too.
all graphic novel type artwork, which was in tern based on a french 'zene,
called metal hurlant, which i'm told translates as screaming metal,
and referred actually to the sound made by the four color separation presses that were used to print color comix, as well, of course, as the 'music' genre.

i know i haven't. one other thing, one of the furst 'furry' artworks i remember seeing was at orycon less then a year after. it was titled "heavy nimh" and it had miss whatshermouse from secret of nimh, riding on one of those bird dragon things like the one that got killed in that one segment of the heavy metal movie.

is that a sequel? I just thought that was like a special dvd that had behind the scenes stuff on it.

less of a sequel, more of just being another movie.
