WIFI HELP~

Okay, so I finally got a copy of Soul Silver, yay~. But, when I went ahead and tried to get my DS to connect to Nintendo's WiFi, I realized that my router was set to WPA, not WEP. I read some shitty, vague instructions online that told me to switch to a WEP connection, which made me promptly lose all internet connection, which unfortunately was required for my router configuration thingy. I know shit all about networking and routers, so I was kinda panicking, considering my only resource for help with these kinds of things was the internet, and that was kind of gone. :X
Even though I entered the WEP keys and stuff in properly when I edited the wireless network connection properties, I lost all network connections for a good 15 minutes, after which things started to magically work again. UNTIL THEN I WAS FREAKING THE FUCK OUT, THOUGH. ;O; Thought I tooootally fucked everything up~. SO ANYWAYS, after all that, I find out my DS still won't connect, because I was on an open WEP thing, rather than a shared, or something? I'm not entirely sure, but that's what Googling told me. Anyways, I didn't wanna keep messing around with shit, since I was scared of making everything go to hell again because of my cluelessness, so I set everything back to the way things were before I started, WPA 'n all.
Because of that, I doooon't wanna touch my router anymore. Does anyone know of any good alternatives that I can use to get my DS online? I'm wondering if a WiFi MAX would solve my problems, as well as let me play my PSP online with other dudes, but I'm not sure if it'll work the way I'm hoping it to. (i.e. provide a separate WEP WiFi connection that my DS can hop onto without me having to change any of my router settings.)
TL;DR: NOT TOUCHING ROUTER EVER AGAIN. WiFi MAX = GOOD ALTERNATIVE? PLZ TELL

Nintendo is completely idiotic for not making the DS support WPA in the first place. Sure, the DSi and DSi XL support WPA...but only for DSi-branded games and the DSi Browser, if you play DS games on a DSi / DSi XL, you MUST still use WEP if you want to play online.
I'm kind of doubting that WiFi thing since it looks like it rarely works (and still creates a WEP port which isn't safe anyway) but I'll look into it more.
Really, all wireless passwords do is nothing more than household locks...keep honest people honest.

You may need to set the router and ds to a WEP shared key making sure the settings are the same in both places and weather you entered a pass phrase or an actual key into the wireless settings.
Some routers, netgear especially, like to take their time upon refreshing their settings. Advice here is to un plug the router for 30 seconds after aplying a setting then plugging it in and give it 2 minutes to boot before trying to connect.
Thanks for the headsup on that connection issue. I seriously thought I had fucked up something majorly.
I'd say, do this.
To do it, though, you go to your router setup page (192.168.1.1 for linksys), click on whatever your wireless security tab is, and disable it completely.
I found out that one spot in my house had amazing wireless connection for the DS, and that spot changed everyday. If I want to do stuff online on my DS, I have to find that spot and stay there. :U
1) disable WEP when using DS.
2) Nintendo Wifi USB adapter
3) Wifi Adapter that can be used as access point mode (share internet with computer it's attached to). The same adapter I use for Xlink can be used but it's not compatible with Vista64 (works great in win 7 though)

I've never try this with DS personally, but being an 'access point' to share internet connection is suppose to mean you can use it to connect to the internet through your computer (which is connected to the internet)
I've been using Virtual Machine (VMware player. free) with win7 installed on it to run xlink though.

Look for wifi adapters :3
