Been playing SS heavily since last Friday (UK release), and I have to say it's one of best games I've ever played, it helps that Gold/Silver are one of my most played games back in day (heck, they were huge reason for me to get Game Boy Color despite having Game Boy Brick) and that it's very perfect example of "pick up and play", if I want to play for a hour before making a dinner, I can. If I want to play it on bus trips, I can. If I want to just go to living room without MSN or even laying on bed playing something without getting too much stressful, I can.
The best part about Heart Gold/Soul Silver is that it's more than just "remake" - they totally re-designed everything, for example Kanto just looks very stunning, while FR/LG (remakes of Red/Blue) just looks same, except with "better sprites". Johto is also really fun place to hang around, it's nice to fight Team Rocket again (even if they don't last long...) and it's nice to have access to whole old Pokémon from Gen 1 & 2 at start rather than having to wait until you've beaten Elite Four.
It makes me think Diamond/Platinum is actually weakest - well, no not weakest but second weakest as the only thing that redeems about them is that Gen IV Pokémon are much better than Gen III ones, and including Wi-Fi play - it's just shame the world in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum is really boring, and I'm not really big fan of characters in D/P at all, nor the world itself it seems.
But anyway, I'm glad I got chance to play Gold/Silver once again, this time with online elements and more balanced battle system - I just hope Gen V will feature interesting world for me to take part in as well decent cast of Gen V Pokémon to use. (When you're at it, please give Tauros evoultion? Pretty please?)
Well that's all, sorry about love story with Pokémon but goddamn, with Perfect Dark XBLA and this, I feel like I'm 12 again. I love 2010 for its games.
