¿cleaning tips?

Normally my house is spotless. However after three months of letting it go while working on suit stuff (working in every room) it's a wreck. (see the pic "hallway" in scraps) It's the biggest mess I've had by far. Before I do anything else I need to clean. I'll be listening to the Fall which always helps me work, but it's still hard to get into the project.
Does anyone have any helpful tips?
Unrelated: What is a dead dog dance? I've heard people use this term after cons but I don't know what it means.
Also: My dog Woodruff was upset with the plushie that FWA gave as the god level gift. I took a pic as he growled at it but the image isn't worth posting.

Cleaning... Well, scoop up some things and start sorting. Carry a trash bag (or two or three, depending upon your service) with you. Sort things into 'this goes in room A, this in room B, this need to go away' until you have a whole room sorted, or have run out of space. Then move the items into those rooms, and repeat.
Switch up with putting things from piles to where they really belong. Focus on checking each item for 'will I really use this again?' and putting things into the go-away pile or trash. That'll give you less stuff to sort.
I could take a photo of our house and it would definitely look like that in some places... Admittedly we just moved into it.
Switching up sounds like a good idea. When I have smaller messes it's not until they're 3/4 organized before things start to get put away and I see progress. After thinking about this little idea I've decided to put some things back at the end of each cleaning day. I bet this makes a big difference.
Also thanks for the "Will I really use this again?" advice. I'll try to let stuff go as I clean. I probably keep too many scraps and parts of old things in case I need the odd spring or what have you. The stuff comes in handy sometimes but just because it's normally organized doesn't mean I'm not kinda' hording, almost.
It's good to know about that term too. I've always just left directly after closing ceremonies but now I can ask around about those.
