April Fool's strangeness.

Today, I was in the student lounge and felt like getting a drink. So I stuck a dollar bill and two quarters into a nearby vending machine, which somehow was sold out of everything. How frustrating.
So, I pushed the coin-return button. In fact, I pressed it several times when nothing came out after a minute. Then, the damnedest thing happened: the machine started dropping coins. One at a time, my $1.50 came out of the machine in quarters. But it didn't stop there. Oh, no. It just kept spitting out quarters, one at a time, far beyond the money I had put in. When it ran out of quarters, it started arbitrarily dropping dimes and nickels, and soon it ran out of that too. It was like a slow-paying slot machine, there must have been at least $50 worth of change there. Luckily for Pepsi-Co, I am an honest man, and simply handed the money, sans the $1.50 I sought in the first place, over to school security.
I can't help but feel that I was the victim of an April Fool's day prank here. Though as far as I know, vending machines are not yet programmed for sentience, and therefore cannot understand the concept of April Fool's Day, or even the concept of days, for that matter...

Turned out they were just getting caught at the bottom and clogging up the machine.
