No worries. My first one only lasted me about 6 months as well. I coulda got it fixed but I needed it that day so i said screw it and baught a new one at Best Buy... SUCKED but oh well, I was able to art! :3 Good luck yo

Myaow, was it a Wacom or a cheaper brand? cos my Intuos 2 has been going 3 years now.

The first tablet I ever got was *cheap*. Like... bargain bin cheap, and yet lasted me 3 years with no changing nibs.
This one, cost 4 times more >:|!
Goes to show price doesnt always mean a good deal.

I currently use a cheap Aiptek, 6x9. Still going on just fine from the moment I bought it. I've only had to replace the pen once, and that only because it fell with the point straight down to the floor; otherwise I still would be using the original pen.

my wacom original graphire lasted me ten years.. up till I got a computer screen too big for it to work with >.> its still working actually, even though I had to get a new graphire (in shiny colours which match my monitor ^.^) anyhow I wrote this to ask.. what size is your computer screen? I mean my poor tablet isnt seeing any use now adays..

This tablet is A3 sized (I know, rediculously huge x_X), and my screens about 17 inches.

Its the pricipal of the things though. I *could* go out and buy another one, I just dont see why I should when this one ought to be working x_X.

you could call the manufactorers and complain? heh, mines rediculously small and occassionaly makes my hand cramp when I do really fine detail for a long period of time

that reminds me of the evil genious tablet had, magically wearing out in just 5 months ( and it had 1 year garantee but couldnt replace it because dad trashed all the documentation and boxes ) :/

If I lived in the US I would have *no* problem getting replacement nibs/pens.. but they dont ship outside the US >:|!

wow i must be the luckyest shithead on earth, ive had my tablet since 2001, and like i just have a crack down the middle and the pen partially works, but never replaced anything...
but i do everything almost with a mouse anyway cause god knows i cant color.

Funny thing is, if I'd kept my first tablet, I could have gotten spare nibs for it XD.
It worked perfectly (aside from the nib) up until last year, and it was cheap as hell :3.

2 Years of constant use of almost anything (tv, computer, etc) is the least we can expect. 5 years is the average. For some stuff it's 10-20 years (refridgerator, car, tooth fillings)

Sorry to hear that. Not having a tablet makes coloring a whole lot of pain. I had a Wacom 6x8 that kind of died after almost 10 years of use (it doesn't quite pick up the pen all the way, and a new pen didn't fix it). I have been lusting after an Intuos 3 6x8 for years, but until then, I've been using the heck out of my little 4x5 graphire. I got it for about $75 off of Ebay. I've thought about getting an A3 or A4 size, but this little A6 is honestly very comfortable to use in my lap. I just wish I could find a graphics program as responsive as Painter, but as crash-free as Photoshop.

I've used tablets for mmm, almost 20 years, now, from this little 4x5 up to a Calcomp (Lockheed) I repaired, that was bigger than 2A0 (that some bastard had used as a CUTTING BOARD). I'm impressed with Wacom. I wouldn't buy anything else at this point.

Hope you can get it fixed or replaced.

Got a nice Intous from my art school for like.. $80 :D. Must have been at least a year or two old when I got it, and since it was in that kind of a setting, it must have seen some intense wear and tear. But as far as I can tell, it still handles just fine. The problems I have had have all turned out to stem from a. my lack of knowlege about the program I was using or b. my lack of drawing skill :P. Wacom is goood. Hate to be cruel, but this just might be a case of getting what you pay for Blue. Aiptek *is* significantly cheaper then Wacom if memory serves, correct?

You should return it to the store you got it to. If it has a warranty.. :D

Wow... to think that I'm going to submit myself to the tablet horror soon. Unfortunately, I won't work as well without it.

Ooh, that sucks. My cheapo tablet was working fine, well...sort of. Until the nib came off. I ended up getting a graphire for an early (early) birthday present. So far it's been great *knock on wood*
