hmm quiet a task you have taken up for yourself ^_^
I would recommend stick with one for now ^^

both have have their secrets and pitfalls o..o

Scripting seams to be hard for anyone not familiar with any kind of computer language (the Concept is hardest with that I think *thinks*)

Animations are rather simple once you found all the pitfalls and "non logical" rules an animation needs to obey to work. After that they are simply tiresome :P
