Drawing and college

I am getting my drawing inspiration back. I have also been seriously considering going to college and getting a degree in one of the sciences. Either Cosmology, Astronomy, etc.
I just gotta see what financial aide I can get.

I went to college for computer tech, thinking that I could land a nice job in the field to boost experience and allow me to specialize. Instead, I got totally fucked by the recession. I now have a worthless degree to go with 5k worth of debt while I work in a distribution center for a retailer. I have no car, need new hearing aids, and it's doubtful I'll be able to afford to move out of my parents house until after I'm 30.
So make sure you are guaranteed a job in your area using what you'll learn before you go to school. Any other way, I'd say college is a waste of money that will set you back by at least a decade; at least, that's what my experience with it was.
It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to go to college for, and I have finally decided on it.
Just make sure you can get a job. Don't just assume that you'll find work in some lab somewhere; that's exactly what I did, and I was dead wrong. If I were you, I'd look around, see if there are any places that employ astrophysicists or cosmologists or astronomers in your area. Even if they aren't hiring, you should take the time to go out there and introduce yourself, tell them of your plans and ask them about their jobs. If you hit it off well with them, there's a possibility they could find you a spot once you get out of school.
Speaking of which; another thing you don't want to assume is that the school will set you up with a job or internship once you graduate. Many colleges still claim this, but in reality, they are only partnered with businesses in their area. So if you are attending college from out of town, you are S.O.L.
I appreciate you advice and warnings anyways.
The main thing is that I go into a field I love and try my hardest to reach somewhere, Can't get anywhere if I dont at least try.
Good luck to you Kethyl. I'm sure your college experience will be a good one!
