Help? Playing DVDS on PC?
15 years ago
General
So I was looking forward to watching a film, as it's too late to be cranking up the volume on the big tv, only to find that I can't play DVDS on the pc anymore :{
Windows Media Player says doesn't recognise it, Realplayer wants me to pay however much (I don't play dvds here enough to warrant that) or get a "Free 14 day sample~". And VLC, played all the way up to the start of the film then froze, I got a newer version and now it won't play at all.
Does anyone know any freebie programs to get, or ways to get what I have working again? It used to work just fine, I don't know what happened. <n>
Edit - RESOLVED! Thanks! :O

make sure media player has all its code thingies in order like if its not playing it should say what youre missing to make it play
MY comp wont play them because one of the lazers is all messed up or whatever and wont read dvds (but will read cds apparently cause they're different?) but since other programs recognize the fact that you have a dvd in there i dont suppose its that
Try DivX?
DivX is good!
Most likely you're running Windows XP since Windows Vista/7 Home Premium (probably the most common version) and Ultimate provide a DVD decoder for free. Basically, you probably won't be able to watch it (without pirating something) unless you pay for a new program or operating system.
