Let's have a journal that's not me bitching. 8D
I...actually found out I had this filled out on my computer. XD; And I'd forgotten about it. So, without further ado, a character meme~
1. Hey! Another meme! Let's introduce your character:
Andren Redtail from the bookKatherine and I wrote last year, The Wingéd.
2. So. What do they do on a day to day basis?
He alternately yells at or tries to avoid people. Honestly? Growing up he had no friends (this is not just an emo teenager’s opinion; he literally had none), so until Nona came along he was very, very lonely. People were just too stupid to bother with, and he didn’t, uh…share their views on a lot of things. Now that Andren is a Wingéd, not much has changed: he can usually be found doing something with Nona, away from other people. That is, if he’s not at his job, being bossed around by Rasma Saem, who delights in doing so. Or hanging out with Kaiv. He likes Kaiv.
3. Their favorite food?
Anything with sugar. Namely grapes or cakes made by Nona. He also likes spicewine (a low-alcohol content wine that’s got sweet spices in it; not sure what to compare it to other than saying a sweeter version of Glühwein).
4. Their sexuality?
I’m going to assume straight. That’s the feeling I get, anyway. He’s only ever shown interest in one person, though (Nona), so it’s hard to say for sure.
5. The people they care about the most?
Nona. She undoubtedly tops this list. He also cares about Kaiv, Taryn (Nona’s brother), and Hati (the wolf god he’s the oracle of). While she was alive, he also had a strong bond with his mother.
6. Their general occupation?
Andren works as a guard in the employment of Rasma Saem. Calling him a guard would be a glorification, though, as the job mostly consists of him running around the oracle city of Amalga, running errands.
7. Something they're very skilled at?
Andren’s quite intelligent, he can use magic, and he knows how to use a sword. However, there’s a drawback to every one of those things (his anger often gets in the way of the logical part of his mind, he’s new to magic, and he’s had relatively little sword training). He’s an eighteen-year-old who grew up in a privileged life, and not really a prodigy in any way, so I wouldn’t say there’s anything he’s “very skilled at”. But he’s definitely not unskilled either.
8. Weakness?
Well, Nona, I guess, if you wanted to use his love for her against him. But an answer more relevant to his day-to-day life would be his anger. Andren gets annoyed too easily, and sometimes it just drives others away, even if he has a point. He usually quits before he burns too many bridges, but it’s still not a good thing.
9. Their biggest fear?
I’m sure some part of Andren still hopes his relationship with Nona isn’t all a dream he’ll wake up from eventually. As for more rational fears, he doesn’t want Nona to be hurt anymore, by anyone.
10. Their biggest wish?
…My last sentence kind of touched on this, actually. XD Andren wishes he could somehow undo all the pain Nona’s had to go through in her life. Obviously he can’t in a way that can be measured in some quantity, but he’s definitely helping more than he even knows.
11. Family?
Andren’s mom died when he was ten, but he loved her. He hates his father, however — they don’t agree on some very important things (for example, his father would hate it if he knew Andren and Nona were a couple).
12. Worst experience?
Either being stabbed or almost being executed.
13. Best experience?
Hearing Nona say “I love you” for the first time. (Other runner-ups? Their first kiss, and their first time having sex.)
14. Criminal at all?
Nah. Despite the accusations of the god of life and death (Osiris), Andren hasn’t ever actually done anything illegal. That said, he probably would if he thought it was the right thing to do.
15. Age?
Eighteen physically, nineteen mentally.
16. Time for some reactions. Your character just walked in on [insert someone they like a lot] and [someone they hate a lot] playing chess. How do they react?
In other words, Nona and his father. He would know he had to be dreaming, because in reality this would never ever happen.
17. They just fell down six flights of stairs. What do they do?
This would be hard to manage with wings. However, he would probably just very loudly say, “OW.”
18. They just got shotted!
He’d go see Rasma Marion and Asclepius and have them take the bullet (or arrow, since bullets don’t really exist in his world) out. He’d be bitching about it the whole time, but he’d basically be okay since he’d know they could take care of practically anything.
19. Candy store! What do they buy?
EVERYTHING. As much as he could afford, anyway. He has a sweet tooth the size of…uh…a very, very large thing.
20. Your character is alone with their lover. What do they do?
Murry things~ (Well, uh, probably, actually. XD Or they just sit around and snuggle or talk. Basically, whatever they both felt like doing.)
21. Your character's enemy has just been hit by a car, what do they do?
I guess he’d be glad his enemy (who would either be his father or Osiris) just got flattened, but at the same time he’d be like, “WTF IS THIS MECHANICAL THING.” Cars don’t exist where he lives.
22. Your character and (some guy) are stuck in an elevator for the next seven hours. What do they do?
It depends on who he’s stuck with. Some people Andren can tolerate, but they are few and far between. So he’d end up being pissed off at the poor random person for five different reasons. It’d…be a very awkward and silent seven hours.
23. Your character and their lover, and best friend, go camping. What happens?
That would mean Andren, Nona, and Kaiv or Taryn. Either way, it’d be awkward, since Andren and Nona are a couple. XD Kaiv would just make things more awkward on purpose (he finds awkwardness funny) by teasing them constantly, and Taryn would just try to make things as not-awkward as possible. If it were all four of them (Andren, Nona, Kaiv, and Taryn), it would be considerably less awkward, since neither Kaiv nor Taryn would have to be a third wheel. They could just go off and cause trouble together.
24. Your character is alone with their worst enemy. What happens?
Again, I’m not sure who this is. If it’s his father, he’d just yell at him and probably end up trying to kill him (I know this for sure because it’s happened before). If it’s Osiris…well. Andren would try the same two things, but all the time he’d be praying to every god that was not the one he was currently facing to please not let that motherfucking ram kill him first. And since Osiris is the most powerful god in that world, and controls life and death…Andren would almost certainly be a goner. Which is a really depressing note on which to end this meme.
