It's not just here, though. On every art site that got practically no comments. Except on the Russian site I'm on. That pretty much surprised me. I very, very rarely get any there, and I had three, lol.

Perhaps there is a market for potbellies in Russia?

But it's sad and true; unless the character is attractive/well known/has fans, unless there's something dirty going on it generally results in a lack of comments/attention. And even then, sometimes that isn't enough to garuntee notice. : T

Most of them liked his story, which made me happy. It seems nobody else reads artists' comments õ_o

And that's about the only thing I don't like about this site in particular. I think a lot of very talented artists aren't as well known, simply because they don't draw erotica.

I get the same feeling, on something I don't particularly like myself (or something done in say, 10 minutes) gets loved on, when something I took extra time on, gave extra love, doesn't get much of anything.

But then, at the same time, I'm guilty of fav-and-dashing. It's usually because I don't know what to say outside of 'it looks great!' or 'it's cute!', that'll benefit the artist in any way. So, the least I can do is show my love for the piece by adding it to my favorites/saving the image.

A while ago I did try to leave a comment on everything I'd favourite. And I kept it going about two months, but then I realise all I said after a while was "Brilliant work!" so I stopped :1

Just I have a group of friends, or other artists who frequently leave comments, and then it ended up that not even they did... lol. It's just weird.

I know how that is, actually. But for me it's if it isn't fanart, I'm proud of it, yet it gets no comments (on Y! gallery mostly).

Yeeeeeah it happens. I still draw fanart from time to time...but only of shit I like. I just put up a pic of Knuckles from Sonic the Hedgehog...let's see how that goes!

But you leave comments. I wouldn't mind even a silly one. It's better than one or two comments :1 That's alien to me. I'm used to just a few more, lol.

Yeah I tend not to get comments on my favorite stuff either. But I draw porn, and that skews my comment tallies a little bit. Even when it's porn the porn that I'm proud of doesn't get as many comments.

It's always the goofy shit that takes you an entire five minutes that gets the most favourites and comments. Lol.

People who draw and paint tend to appreciate art differently than those that don't. It's especially different for people who spend so much time creating something.

People just want something to fap to, and apparently can't do that to an old guy with a potbelly

most of the people who are browsing are not necessarily connoisseurs of fine art, so I don't think it says anything about you as an artist. I've noticed that a lot of how much attention an image gets has to do with factors like the hour you post it on the site and how much traffic the site has when your work is on the front page, and this site particularly has an audience who is more attracted to certain themes and styles too (I'm not just talking about porn but that's a good example) ..I think it all depends, really. Some times if you really want to go forward with a particular idea that is different and not as established you just have to brace yourself for disappointment. As far as me commenting I do it all like 2 weeks to a month after it's posted unless by chance it -really- catches my eye and I decide to click on it when I'm just poking about here and there. often I'll save stuff I really like in order to give a more worthy comment when I have time. ugh why do I write such huge comments?

Normally, one site will get a lot of comments and another will get only a few for me. But this time around I got almost none on every site, lol.
